[3D Printing Applications] Sinterit Lisa's new 3D printing product – super elastic swimming goggle frame "powder" – has arrived!
The test launch is here again! After the last 3D printing exhibition , many people were very interested in the elastic material TPU. The Flexa Black powder used by Sinterit is thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer ( TPU ), which is similar to rubber and has elasticity, flexibility, impact resistance, and is flexible and durable.
This time, we used a swimming goggle frame model that is usually made of rubber or plastic for testing. The frame of swimming goggles is usually elastic to fit the skin and achieve a water-repellent effect; so how soft and bouncy is Flexa Black elastic powder?
First, you can see the estimated appearance before printing. The printing time is about one day and three hours, and the ceiling height is set to 0.1mm.
After the printing time, wait 30 minutes for the machine to cool down before you can start cleaning! Because the powder is quite fine, it's recommended to wear a mask when cleaning. First, remove the large areas of powder, then begin cleaning the details. After brushing, the main body can be removed. The Sinterit Lisa 3D printer doesn't require support materials; simply removing the powder is all it takes to get the finished product, and you don't need to worry about any marks from removing the support on the surface.
The high flexibility of TPU ( Teleplastic Polyurethane) material makes it suitable for prototypes of elastic parts such as fabrics, springs, and rubber. Live testing shows you that it can not only be compressed vertically, but also twisted into a figure-eight shape! It's softer and more flexible than typical swimming goggle frames!
To ensure sample quality, we usually use a sandblasting machine for a final intensive cleaning after printing with Sinterit Lisa 3D . The finished product is very beautiful. Compared with FDM 3D printers, Sinterit Lisa printing has almost no lamellae texture.

We've taken close-up photos and provided a scale bar so everyone can see clearly the original design and texture of the swimming goggle frames. The printed product was a great success!
