[3D Printing Application] Reunion for Mid-Autumn Festival: Make Your Own Mooncakes!

The Mid-Autumn Festival is here again! Tired of egg yolk pastries and pineapple cakes? With this hot weather, try some snow skin mooncakes! Single folks don't need to worry either, snow skin mooncakes can be made in the microwave without an oven! This time, we've also used a 3D printer to create custom mooncake molds, so give it a try!
First, prepare the following materials (for approximately 5 people):

125g of cooked glutinous rice flour (Fengpian powder)
30g of cooked corn flour
20g of powdered sugar
200g red bean paste
15g matcha powder
20g unsalted butter
200g of drinking water
One mooncake mold

If cornstarch and cooked cornstarch are hard to find, microwave them for two minutes before cooking until fully cooked! (Adjust cooking time according to your microwave's wattage)
First, we sift the cooked glutinous rice flour and matcha powder, then add room temperature butter and knead until smooth. Next, we add water in batches and knead until smooth.

Continue kneading until the dough is elastic. Wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest for about 30 minutes to allow the dough to relax, which will make it more elastic.

Now it's time to take out the filling we bought and knead it into balls about half the size of the mold. The other half of the volume will be used for the dough later.

While waiting for the mooncake crust, the mooncake molds in Ultimaker were almost finished printing! This time, PLA and PVA were also used.

It looks beautiful after the support is removed. After cleaning, it can be directly used for cold pressing! The pressure rod at the back makes it easier to squeeze out the snow skin mooncakes.

We made two types of pastry using the same method: original and matcha. You can also add different flavoring powders according to your own taste!

Roll the dough into a ball and flatten it. Wrap the filling inside the dough completely like you would a dumpling, and pinch off any excess dough at the end.

Next, coat the whole kernel with cooked cornstarch, and then you can press it into the mold! Remember to press it firmly so that the finished product won't be uneven!

Delicious snow skin mooncakes are so easy to make! Just chill them in the refrigerator for a bit, and the crust will be chewy and soft – so delicious! Try making them with your family during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday!
