[3D Printing News] Ultimaker Materials Alliance Program: Diverse New Choices.

Ultimaker, the leading brand of 3D printers, recently announced at the Hannover Messe that its Materials Alliance program, launched last April, has impacted more than 80 companies worldwide. The program develops material settings for FFF 3D printing to meet the growing demand for industrial-grade 3D printing materials .

A year after Ultimaker launched the program, well-known material companies, including BASF, DSM, DuPont, Owens Corning, Arkema, Jabil, Lehmann & Voss & Co. BASF, and others, actively participated in Ultimaker 's collaboration program to accelerate the introduction of various FFF 3D printing filaments into the professional market.

Ultimaker 's open materials strategy allows for the use of different materials with specific properties for printing applications, such as heat resistance, impact and chemical resistance, elasticity, and strength. These properties are key factors for engineers in selecting materials, and the corresponding parameter configurations can be downloaded from the Ultimaker Cloud Marketplace.

"Within just one year of its launch, it has garnered significant attention, and the Ultimaker Materials Alliance has partnered with global suppliers to develop new applications," said Paul Heiden, Vice President of Product Management at Ultimaker . For example, professional users can now choose to use metallic filaments for printing, producing a look or texture similar to SLM metallic printing . Through grinding or polishing, a metallic sheen can be achieved, along with similar weight and cost-effectiveness.

Another outcome of this initiative is the availability of electrostatic discharge (ESD) cables , making it easier for engineers and designers in the electronics industry to utilize 3D printing technology for production and development. Those who have the opportunity to visit the Hannover Messe can visit booth K06 in Hall 6 to see more of the Ultimaker Materials Alliance initiative on-site.
