The unboxing article you've all been waiting for is here again! What can the brand new MUSE laser processing machine from the USA do? Cutting, engraving, and carving are all no problem. Following our previous user experience sharing (further reading: Mass Production of Handmade Jewelry - Ann's Jewelry & Décor ), we're back with another unboxing and test!
The MUSE laser processing machines, which travel across the ocean, are packaged in wooden crates. Inside the crates are cardboard boxes and foam to ensure that the products arrive safely in the hands of customers.
Upon opening the cardboard box, you will find a quick user manual. Please read the instructions carefully before starting the program. Remove all foam and launch the dedicated RetinaEngrave v2 laser engraving software online. You can use it with just a browser; no download is required!

We found a free resource online (further reading: Free resources without reservation! 5 major 3D model libraries are all here! ) that can be hung outside a door to indicate "Do Not Disturb" for testing. When we put it into the RetinaEngrave v2 software interface, we could freely resize it and preview the cutting range. The right-hand column allows us to adjust the fineness or intensity of the laser processing . Overall, it is an intuitive and easy-to-understand operation.
Without further ado, let's get straight to the test. MUSE laser engraving and cutting is very fast; this 30cm-sized tag can be completed in just about 10 minutes.
The wooden boards used this time are about 3mm thick. The laser-cut parts are clean and crisp, and can be separated from the waste material with a light press. The carved parts are very complete.
The actual surface area that can be laser-processed is approximately 50x30 cm. If there are size requirements, MUSE can even use the disassembled base plate independently, overcoming the limitations of height and area. For example, it can be used to carve an entire door panel using a splicing method. In the lower part of the image, you can see the metal honeycomb plate, which prevents the laser cutting beam from hitting the base plate directly. It is similar to the concept of a cutting mat for art and must be placed under the cutting area before use.
We tested the effects of different power levels on wooden boards. Common scorch marks can be solved by adjusting the power and speed. Since wood contains moisture and oil, high-power laser heating will leave burn marks. In contrast, using low power multiple times and quickly will result in a cleaner finish.
In addition, testing multiple materials is also necessary. We engrave the English words "this side up" on the glass platform of the Ultimaker 3D printer so that engineers can understand it at a glance and do not need to make other judgments every time they change the glass.
Colleagues used whatever they had on hand to support the front lines. The boss's metal business card holder was instantly upgraded and transformed into a custom-made item after the company logo was engraved on it. The specially designed aluminum ruler was also easy to engrave, so there was no longer any fear of losing it.
This MUSE laser processing machine is suitable for engraving on various materials such as paper, wood, leather, glass, acrylic, and metal surfaces. In addition to various material testing, precision is also a major focus of laser processing . We engraved the lettering from large to small using both wood and acrylic materials to facilitate comparison of the different effects.
The font sizes range from 20pt to 2pt, with the smallest font being about 0.7mm high, yet it still manages to display the 3DMart logo, making it so small that the camera has difficulty focusing. Based on the current internal test samples, the quality of the MUSE laser processing machine is more than sufficient for the application.
