[3D Printing News] Ultimaker Cura 4.2 Official Version Released!
Ultimaker's official slicing software, Cura, version 4.2, has been officially released! Simultaneously, Ultimaker Cura won the "Software Tool" award at the 2019 3D Printing Industry Awards, a direct affirmation of Cura's slicing software and a certification of its pre -3D printing experience. Millions of 3D printing professionals worldwide have chosen Ultimaker Cura software to assist with research and innovation. Learn about its new features now:
Orthogonal view
The new orthographic view makes Ultimaker Cura more user-friendly for CAD users. This feature makes it easier to compare the pre-press dimensions of models. This feature is now available in Cura 4.2 under "View > Camera View > Orthographic".

Item List
The new item list allows for quick and easy identification of file names and models. Clicking on a model directly will display the item name; conversely, selecting an item name in the lower left corner will display the corresponding model view. This list remains open and closed as it was last viewed by the user.
(Use the item list to easily distinguish the corresponding file names and models)
Color separation display
The fill and support interfaces in the preview view now have new color scheme options, making them easier to distinguish in complex models. Fill lines are now displayed in orange, while support interfaces are distinguished by blue; this feature can be found in "Color Scheme" > "Line Type" at the top.
(The fill line is orange in the new Cura 4.2)
(The support line is now a more prominent blue line.)
Slicing operations
After selecting "Slice", the slice button will display "Processing" and "Slicing" to prevent users from adjusting other functions during the calculation and failing to see the effect in time. We also recommend that after each "Slice" is pressed, you wait patiently for the calculation to complete before making other adjustments to avoid losing any parameter effects during the process.

Fine-tuning distance
During retraction and long-duration movements, some cable characteristics may "overflow" more. The new Cura 4.2 will add a new fine-tuning setting to the restart distance to maintain a precise extrusion width when reprinting, resulting in more perfect objects.
Smart seam
If all the extrusion start points fall in the same position at the starting point of each layer of printing, the final object will show a more obvious seam. The new Cura 4.2 allows you to add a custom option "Seam Preference Settings" in the "Shell" and select "Smart Hide"; this function will automatically select the landing point of the seam at each layer through analysis and produce a better-looking 3D printed product appearance.
Flow control
Flow control for different functions can now be set in more detail. You can now adjust the flow of line materials with specific characteristics, such as walls, fillers, supports, refill towers, etc. This function can be found in the customization options of " Consumables ".
Other functions
The latest version now supports more third-party 3D printers , including: Creality CR10 Mini, CR10s, CR10s Pro, CR20, CR20 Pro, Ender 2, Ender 4, and Ender 5, etc. In addition, many bugs have been fixed, such as issues with font rendering, model settings, unnecessary movement paths, overlapping main towers, and printer names.
All these new features are completely free, just like before! Download Ultimaker Cura 4.2 now and stay ahead of the curve in your 3D printing workflow, keeping up with the professionals. For best results, use it with an Ultimaker 3D printer and fully utilize the Ultimaker Cloud platform, multi-machine control, and more; more than just a 3D printer , it provides you with a complete enterprise system.
