The 2019 MegaMakerDay Maker Festival concluded successfully last week! Besides gathering numerous makers, craft markets, and startups, the event expanded due to overwhelming participation. Many cutting-edge technologies previously used in industry are now making their way to the mass market. What fun and interesting things happened at the event? Let's take a look back!
In addition to the two indoor venues this year, there are also plenty of outdoor stalls, with most exhibits focusing on handicrafts and hands-on experiences; it's perfect for adults and children to visit together, and the venue gets packed with people once the weather clears up.
Even the food stalls around the area use recyclable cardboard tables and chairs, which perfectly fits the theme of the "Meigang Maker Festival" and attracts everyone to try them out. On-site testing showed that the sturdiness is comparable to that of ordinary plastic tables and chairs, with a solid structure and very light weight. It is hoped that they can be widely used in the future.
In addition to the performance stage, the outdoor plaza area also features a student-led mechanical vehicle competition. Many vehicles are equipped with robotic arms, enabling them to stack objects, retrieve items, and perform other operations. These young students are the rising stars of Taiwan!
Furthermore, Spider Maker , a Taiwanese materials supplier that continues to refine its 3D printing materials , showcased even more matte samples of colorful lollipops. The finished products boasted an astonishing level of detail, with the characteristic 3D printing texture of FDM almost invisible. The superhero series, made with matte black PLA filament, was even printed using an Ultimaker 3D printer !
The booths inside the venue offer a wide variety of handcrafted jewelry made using CNC machining , laser processing , and 3D printing . On the second floor, there are also custom-made clothes and T-shirts that can be printed and worn immediately after you choose your design – the speed is astounding.
Among the many industries are the realistic food models that can be seen in major department stores. The moment when the wok is tossed into the air while making fried rice is quite eye-catching, and the visuals alone are enough to make your mouth water.
3DMark also participated in the exhibition, and their on-site demonstrations were equally impressive. We brought the latest Ultimaker S3 3D printer , FormBox , and Vaquform DT2, which were packed with parents and students trying out custom-made coasters made with vacuum forming machines , as well as various industrial samples created using 3D printing .
