Overwatch is a multiplayer shooter game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. It features a complete story and character styles. The sniper "Deadly Girl" is a cold and ruthless character in the game, equipped with her exclusive sniper rifle "Kiss of Death," which can take you down with one shot!
This live-action "Kiss of Death" figure is 140 centimeters long, requiring an adult to hold it with both hands. It was created using 3D printing of individual parts followed by assembly. The 3D printers used were the Ultimaker S5 and Ultimaker 3 , both with dual printhead systems, employing a high-precision layer thickness of 0.15mm. The printing process used PLA filaments combined with water-soluble PVA support.
The model itself has a lot of detailed construction. Even if it is disassembled and printed piece by piece, it is almost too big to fit on a six-person conference table. The PLA color we used is very similar to the blue-purple of "Kiss of Death". Since it is a virtual gun in the game, not only the appearance, but also the special parts used for assembly, such as screws and fixing shafts, need to be 3D printed together.
We first completed the handheld part and the gun barrel separately before assembling the whole thing. We admired the developers' dedication and meticulousness during the production process, as even the internal assembly structure, which is not visible after assembly, reflects the game's style.
The finished product is incredibly realistic; the only difference is that we didn't add infrared lights. We are very grateful to the developers for providing such a complete open-source 3D model file and for actually being able to complete it using a 3D printer .
The gun is approximately 110 cm long when closed and 140 cm long when extended. Due to its large size, we even made a custom stand to secure it. We've also included a standard 15 cm ballpoint pen as a scale and a life-size replica of the handsome man as a reference for comparison.
