Baking beginners are no problem! Create sculpted cakes in seconds! Vacuum forming and laser processing deliver exceptional performance, making it a must-have in the food industry and a staple in dessert development. The more you know, the more powerful you become – see how these two technologies combine!
We have previously introduced many applications of vacuum forming technology in the food industry, from French pastry chefs ( click to see ), Italian chocolate factories ( click to see ), to British artisan pastry shops ( click to see ), etc.; these are just the tip of the iceberg. As industrial-grade technology enters daily life, now as long as you learn the technical principles, you can extend more production methods by giving full play to your creativity.
In the dessert industry, the most common application of vacuum forming is to first vacuum-form shaped items, then demold them to form food molds, and finally inject various ingredients to create a variety of customized desserts!

Matt Mattlar, a self-taught British bread and pastry designer, researches various innovative techniques for making pastries, hoping to make baking more accessible! He thus founded the " Bake it Better " teaching platform, dedicated to creating a relaxed learning environment where more dessert enthusiasts can unleash their creativity while learning new technologies.

Matt designed a chocolate box cake, mainly featuring a key and lock design. To complete the cake's filling, laser cutting technology can be used. After measuring the cake's dimensions, the desired lock design can be created on a computer. Then, a laser cutter can be used to cut transparent material sheets along the designed path to create a template for the lock on the cake. This way, the same effect as Matt's cake can be achieved.
Spread a layer of chocolate sauce on the template, and remove it after it solidifies. Your customized locket is complete! Seeing this, I also thought of another extended application: using the same method, you can also make cake dusting boards of various shapes according to your preferences, and sprinkle them with chocolate, matcha, or brown sugar powder to decorate your creative desserts as you like.
Finally, Matt placed the key into the FormBox vacuum forming machine , paired with a vacuum forming material sheet , and pressed down for 3 seconds to shape the vacuum-formed object. Using the key mold formed after demolding, he poured in chocolate sauce to complete the final part of the cake.
Using industrial-grade desktop equipment, these compact machines allow you to make your own products at home or in your studio, from design and development, idea testing, and even blister packaging – build your own production line!
