[3D Printing] PRUSA collaborates with ALBI to launch the board game "Clash Derby"!

You can print more durable game pieces instead of cardboard pieces, make a suitable storage box so you don't have to bother tidying up before each game, or add some miniature models to enhance the gaming experience... the possibilities are endless.
This didn't surprise PRUSA—they themselves are board game enthusiasts.
Now, they are finally able to perfectly combine these two hobbies.
Thanks to the collaboration between Czech board game publisher Albi and PRUSA, a long-held dream has come true with the release of "Clash Derby".
A board game designed specifically for the 3D printing community.

More than three years ago, PRUSA shared a booth with Albi at the Spiel games fair in Essen, Germany—the world’s largest board game fair.
At that time, they were discussing collaborating on the development of a game: a game built from scratch using 3D printing technology.
At the same time, they don't want it to be "only playable with 3D printers".
The goal is to develop a game that works perfectly even without a 3D printer, while also allowing players to experience the new fun brought by 3D printing technology in an interesting way.
Ultimately, both sides chose a solution that balanced the advantages of both: the game itself (paired with basic box-printed car models) could run perfectly, while also being easily expandable through 3D printing.
This opens the door to upgrades, new ideas, and community engagement through printable content.

Testing phase
Following the Essen Games Show in 2022, Albi sent PRUSA its first batch of game concept art over the next few months.
Some of them are excellent, but one stands out—a racing game that incorporates crash elements.
The game didn't even have a name at the time, but the design on paper immediately attracted them.

Game content
Collision Derby is a racing game suitable for the whole family, combining strategy and exciting action elements.
Each player drives their own race car, striving to move across the game map as quickly as possible.
This time, the goal is not to be the first to cross the finish line.
Your task is to collect the four flags scattered across the game board before your opponent.
Of course, these vehicles are also equipped with weapons, which will cause great trouble for other players.
You can harass your opponents, sabotage their upgrades, and disrupt their carefully planned cornering routes (the game will even reward you for this).
Moreover, since flag areas are the most likely to attract vehicles, collisions are almost inevitable.

The most eye-catching feature in the game is the "steering wheel" on the player's panel: a mechanical device consisting of three gears.
You need to plan your actions in advance and put them into these gears.
But at the end of each round, the gears keep turning—so if you don't plan well, your car will start to "act on its own" uncontrollably.
That's part of the fun of the game: you need to think ahead, but also stay flexible, because other players will constantly disrupt your plans.
The final product is a fast-paced, highly interactive adventure where strategy often devolves into utter chaos.
Race cars collide, shoot, and dodge at the last minute, turning the entire track into a crazy derby arena where everything can change dramatically with a single turn of the wheel.

This game is suitable for 2-4 players, has a fast pace, and a game usually lasts about an hour.
The rules are written clearly and easy to understand, making it easy for even younger players to get started. Therefore, it is recommended for players aged 10 and above to play.
Currently, you can find three printable car models and a steering wheel-shaped player panel on the Printables website. But this is just the beginning—the game will receive more support in the future.

They plan to hold a design competition and invite the Printables community to participate.
Some competitions will focus on visual design, but larger competitions will also involve game design, with the goal of creating complete standalone expansion packs.
They believe that Collision Derby is a platform that the community can use as a foundation to develop it into a larger and better work.
So now there's only one question left: Will we see you at the Clash Derby Stadium?
