[3D Printing Applications] Fashion Week 3D Printing: Breathable and functional, no cutting required, zero waste!
Fashion brand "ZER Collection" showcased 12 3D-printed garments at Madrid Fashion Week 2020. Through 3D printing technology , the clothing not only achieved a "fashionable and aesthetically pleasing" effect but also possessed functional qualities such as "breathability" and "elasticity." Digital production also successfully solved the problem of up to 30% fabric waste during traditional clothing design, where fabric is often cut and discarded.
3D printing on elastic fabric, breathable, comfortable, and stylish.
The decorative designs on the surface of clothing can also be created using 3D printing , combined with fabrics such as cotton, knitwear, and silk, to design various shapes and structures. This way, the curves of the model's body can be preserved while also ensuring breathability, fabric toughness, and comfortable wear for extended periods.
The team primarily uses BCN3D's IDEX independent dual extruders technology on its 3D printers to produce apparel accessories. The equipment features two completely separate extruder systems that can move independently during operation, without interfering with each other. This allows for printing two different colors or materials on the same fabric in a single pass, significantly increasing the efficiency of each 3D print and saving time spent testing and revising designer ideas. Print only what you need, eliminating the need for cutting and resulting in zero waste.
Furthermore, in order to reduce material waste, the "ZER Collection" team recycled all the old clothing and fabrics used in the past, melted the plastic into recycled 3D printing filaments , and then reused them in new products. Through 3D printing technology , they not only promote the sustainable development of the entire fashion industry, but the team also continues to conduct research and strive to achieve the goal of designing every garment in an environment that does not generate any waste!
ZER Collection continues to explore ways to combine fashion with new technologies, hoping to integrate laser cutting , 3D human body scanning , and other techniques into garment production in the future, in addition to 3D printing . With the continuous advancement of technology, we are delighted to see more and more fields combining their expertise and passion with different technologies to create greater brand value.
