Install LP5
Installing the LP5 is relatively simple. First, use the provided screws to secure the motor bracket to the base plate.
Next, the LP5 device itself is mounted onto the bracket.
Then you'll need to install the protective cover; in some cases, you may need to turn on the laser and lift it up to make room.
Once the setup is complete, use one of the provided wires to connect the fan wire to the back of the laser engraving machine to connect the laser to the motorized bracket.

– Security Key . Finally, insert one of the USB security keys to enable the laser.
The LaserPecker device comes with two keys in case one is lost, so please keep them in a safe place.
Install slide expansion kit and rotary axis bracket
For the slide extension kit, connect the two cutting pads to the base unit.
Once ready, place the expansion kit and connect it to the back of the laser machine using the included USB cable.

For the rotating shaft bracket, please use the provided screws to secure the rotating unit to the base plate.
Depending on your project, install the jaw fittings or studs, then slide the tailstock support into the rail. Once you confirm it is secure, you can begin.

LP5 connectivity
Overall, setting up the LP5 is very simple and quick.
You can connect the device to your PC using a USB cable or set up WiFi using the mobile app.
If a WiFi connection is available, you can connect the LP5 wirelessly to the device.
In addition, for relief projects, it is best to use USB mode because the files are large and difficult to transfer via WiFi, which may cause problems during the process.
LP5 hardware design
The LP5 follows the stylish design of the previous LaserPecker designs, maintaining its beauty and simplicity, but with a larger appearance.
Despite being slightly heavier, the LP5 remains portable and stands out for its inclusion of a 20W diode laser and a fiber laser.

Accessory Set
The accessory kit includes several very useful accessories, including a slide extension kit for machining larger workpieces and a rotary axis support with tilting function, making it easier to engrave hard-to-reach areas.
It also includes a base plate for cutting operations, which is recommended to prevent leaving marks or damaging the LP5's base.
Protective cover, fan and cooling
The LP5 features a secure protective cover and a powerful exhaust fan, including a retractable hose.
You can connect it to an external ventilation system or ventilate it outside the window.
Fans can effectively remove dust or debris generated during embossing or carving.

Because fiber lasers require strict cooling, the LP5 operates at a relatively high volume.
While many companies opt for liquid cooling systems, LaserPecker has cleverly designed a more stable, portable system with a large radiator cooled by a powerful fan.
Although there is some noise during operation, this cooling is very beneficial for lasers, as it can maintain their temperature during long engraving or embossing processes.

LaserPecker Design Space (LDS)
LaserPecker offers its own software, LaserPecker Design Space (LDS), available for PC, Android, iOS, and macOS.
The PC version of the program is the most practical and easy to use. Compared with some mobile applications, it is easier to use and has more features. Some mobile applications sometimes lack certain features, so it is recommended to use the PC version of the program.

If this is your first time using the LaserPecker LP5, you will need to connect it via USB and press "Connect".
Once connected, navigate to device settings to configure WiFi and enable wireless operation.
LDS contains everything you need for cutting, engraving, and embossing, and its simple layout allows you to place all settings on the right side of the screen, providing ample workspace.

Various material treatments
Embossing of brass coins
The power was set at 100%, the depth at 30%, the frequency at 26%, and the layer height at 0.01 mm. Each coin took less than 5 hours to produce.
After embossing, a cleaning was performed, with the settings adjusted to 50% power and 4% depth. This helped remove some residue.

Brass pendant engraving
Using a fiber optic laser, the resolution was set to 8K, the frequency to 26, the power to 50%, and the depth to 35%.
The carving process took less than five minutes, resulting in a stunning piece with a unique and eye-catching design.

Stone Slab Carving
The laser frequency was set to 26, power to 40%, depth to 30%, and resolution to 8K, using a fiber optic laser.
Smaller slabs take about 40 minutes to complete, while larger slabs take more than 5 hours.

Linden wood carving
A diode laser with 50% power and 25% depth was used to engrave a logo on a wooden keychain.
The logo takes about 4 minutes to engrave at 1K, and the finished product is excellent, clear and sharp.

LP5 settings
The LP5 uses slightly different settings compared to most lasers on the market.
For diode lasers, key settings include Power, Passes, and Depth.
Increasing the depth will slow down the operation, while decreasing the depth will speed it up.
For fiber optic lasers, you need to adjust settings such as LaserFrequency, Passes, Power, and Depth.
Depending on the material you are engraving, you may also need to set the duration, which determines how long the laser stays on each point (in milliseconds).
Higher duration values typically correspond to slower engraving speeds.
A very useful section on the LaserPecker official website is the material settings for all LaserPecker machines. It's worthwhile to study the materials and settings before planning a project.
All the images used for testing can be found on Laser-pics.com ; there are plenty of free images that are perfect for laser engraving.
in conclusion
The LP5 boasts the most compact 20W diode and fiber laser design in its class, making it exceptional in terms of versatility.
The LP5 is particularly suitable for high-volume engraving and features optional rotary axis and slide extension kits to seamlessly adapt to projects of various sizes.
Its working area ranges from 160 × 300 mm (with slider extension), 100 × 100 mm (square), and 120 × 160 mm (elliptical pattern).
In addition, the LP5 can cut metal up to 1 mm thick and engrave a variety of materials.
With a maximum speed of 10,000 mm/s, carving tasks can be completed faster than ever before.
The LaserPecker LP5 is a truly versatile device, convenient for hobbyists and a top choice for professionals who prioritize portability and precision.
This device consists of a 20W diode and a 20W fiber laser, allowing you to perform metal cutting and precise engraving on a variety of materials.
Furthermore, its compact and lightweight design, along with its high speed and high resolution, makes it an ideal choice for people who need portability and mobility for work.
Overall, the LP5's dual laser technology and advanced accessories have earned it high praise among portable engraving machines.
