Industrial parts need to withstand long-term use, and the "wear resistance" of materials is an important performance consideration. Ultimaker conducted a 30-minute wear resistance test on general PLA and IGUS IGLIDUR I150 , and the results were amazing. Watch the video now:
Identical 3D printed objects were created using two different filaments: general PLA and Iglidur I150. These objects were then fixed on a testing machine to simulate the friction forces experienced by 3D printed bearings, propellers, jigs, conveyor gears, and other parts during use, and were continuously simulated in a real-world application environment for 30 minutes.
Under high-speed friction, the surface of objects made with ordinary PLA will show obvious chipping and dents. PLA is easy to print and has a low cost, making it very suitable for use when developing samples and making prototypes. It can stably produce high-precision 3D models, but its wear resistance is not high.

Industrial parts often require continuous operation day and night, and the wear rate directly affects work efficiency; the model made using IGUS® IGLIDER I150 filament still has an intact, smooth and flat surface after the wear resistance test!

IGUS® IGLIDER I150 filament costs twice as much as regular PLA filament , but its abrasion resistance is 50 times that of regular 3D printing filament , offering exceptional value! It is ideal for easily worn mechanical, automotive, and electronic parts, effectively extending their lifespan and reducing maintenance frequency.
In addition, TPU soft material is another common type of abrasion-resistant wire. Heineken Brewery uses a large amount of TPU to make fasteners; the soft and elastic material can withstand repeated impacts and compressions and can be used stably in complex production lines.
