I. Interface Overview
• Import Files and Settings (Prepare)
First, select Prepare, import the 3D model file, and configure it.


1. Work Platform Options – Select 3D Printer , Panel Configuration, Print Settings
2. Display the printing platform
3. Areas that cannot be printed – indicated by gray shading.
4. Unprintable model – part not within the working area.
5. Printable models – will display the corresponding solid color with the selected 3D printing filament.

• Slice Preview Mode
Selecting Preview allows you to preview the 3D printing process. Using the slice function button in the lower right corner will automatically display the perspective view. Selecting Layer View will display the 3D model of the slice, and Ultimaker Cura will show the actual 3D printing path executed.

Color Mode

X-ray fluoroscopy mode
This mode provides a semi-transparent view of the 3D model. When an error is detected, Ultimaker Cura will display it in red, which can help with a final model check before the print job begins.

Individual model settings
Ultimaker Cura allows you to set up multiple models with different structures on the same work panel, which can improve the efficiency of 3D printing .

• Use the input field (6) to change the setting. • Use the "-" button to delete the custom setting from the list.

Select 3D printing printhead
Ultimaker Cura allows you to individually configure and change the 3D printing nozzles used for each model.


Select the desired model on the printing platform (3)
Select the printhead for the print model (1 is the default).
Select (2) to change the nozzle settings.

III. Merge and combine functions
Ultimaker Cura allows you to merge or group multiple 3D models on the printing platform. The grouping and merging functions are very useful when multiple 3D printers are working simultaneously.


Grouped objects
When moving, scaling, rotating, and mirroring objects, the grouping function can reduce the chance of errors during the adjustment process and effectively improve the efficiency of pre-printing operations.

1. On the printing platform, select two or more models and use "Shift" + left-click on each model.
2. Selected objects will be outlined in blue.
3. Right-click on one of the selected objects and select "Group Models" (shortcut key Ctrl, Cmd + G).

Merge objects
The merge function is very useful when using dual-material/color models, allowing models to be combined in the simplest way.


1. On the printing platform, select two or more models and use "Shift" + left-click on each model.
2. Selected objects will be outlined in blue.

3. Right-click on one of the selected models and then select "Merge Models" (shortcut key Ctrl, Cmd + Alt + G).
4. Merged objects will display a gray border, aligned with their corresponding center point.

Ultimaker Cura contains a wealth of information about 3D printers , models, print configuration files, materials, and their configurations.

Archive Preservation
It is recommended to save the file directly after sending it to the Ultimaker 3D printer . This will ensure that the file is exactly the same as the item sent, including the connected printer, model adjustment, and print configuration file.

(After saving the file, Ultimaker Cura will display all job details.)

Open the file
When opening an archive project, Ultimaker Cura offers the option to import the entire project file or import one of the models.



When starting a file with the same name, Ultimaker Cura cannot distinguish the latest information. Before inserting the file, there will be two prompt options: "Update current file" and "Create new file" to ensure the safe storage of the file.



1. Update current file: Select the specified Ultimaker 3D printer and filament material.
2. Create a new profile: A new 3D printer will be added to Ultimaker Cura, configured as shown in the summary.
Firmware updates differ for both network-connected and offline-connected Ultimaker 3D printers . The Ultimaker Cura firmware update is only required when using Ultimaker Original, Ultimaker Original+, Ultimaker 2 Go, Ultimaker 2 (Extended) , and Ultimaker 2+ (Extended) .

Ultimaker 3D printer with network connectivity
When the printer is connected to the network, the firmware for the Ultimaker printer will be downloaded automatically (System>Maintenance>Firmware update).

Offline USB connection to Ultimaker 3D printer
If you cannot connect to the network, you can also use a USB to install the latest firmware version.



1. In Ultimaker Cura, add and select the Ultimaker 3D printer .
Method A. Connect to the 3D printer using USB.
Method B. Start the 3D printer
2. Open the 3D printer management screen (System>Printer>Manager Printers), or select it from the interface menu (Printer selection panel>Manager printers), or click "Update Firmware" on the printer's touch screen.
3. Select "Automatically update firmware" to install the default version, or select "Upload custom firmware" to install other versions.
4. The firmware update begins, and the Ultimaker 3D printer will restart during the process.
5. After the update is complete, press Enter to finish the firmware update.
The Ultimaker Cura's settings panel offers recommended and custom modes. The recommended mode is suitable for beginners, while the custom mode provides more settings for experienced users.

Based on 3D printing nozzle and material settings, files can be adjusted to meet various needs. Ultimaker Cura offers layer thickness and printing speed settings from 60 to 400 micrometers.

Search Overview
The customizable search bar can be easily configured to suit your needs:
