Following the release of the slicing software Cura 4.0 , Ultimaker received a lot of user feedback and has now released the Cura 4.1 beta version, including new features and various improvements. These include more customizable settings panels, smaller improvements such as plugin and parameter update notifications in the Ultimaker Marketplace, better printing stability, and more. Here's a guide to the upcoming features:
In addition to the new startup screen, a series of setup steps will be displayed, including: welcome, user agreement, options to add a 3D printer , and options to register and log in using an Ultimaker account.
Based on feedback from the previous version, the limitations of the 3D printing parameter panel have been removed for easier dragging and operation. The hiding and showing of the panel and the parameter position will remain unchanged; double-clicking at the top of the page will reset it to its initial position.
Before using more advanced 3D printing materials, users can quickly and easily access more information through the thumbnails next to the selected materials. Clicking on the thumbnails will guide users to the "Printing Guide" from the print profile.
The new Cura 4.1 will add notification functionality to the Ultimaker Marketplace, making it easy for us to know when new plugins and printing settings are available.
Depending on the 3D printing model, using a feed tower can sometimes enhance adhesion, which is one of our commonly used functions. In the new version, the feed tower can be used independently. When the attachment type is "None", "Brim", or "Skirt", the feed tower can also be activated. However, this function is currently not applicable to the "Raft" attachment type.
Supporting graphics
The new version is expected to add different support patterns, such as a spiral structure, which will allow water-soluble PVA to dissolve faster and make it easier to remove the semi-dissolved support material in one piece using pliers compared to other support patterns.
This release includes a number of stability improvements, such as fixing several issues with the monitor screen. Manually adding printers via IP address will now trigger a notification that the printer will be paired with the Ultimaker account for cloud connectivity. Mac OSX users will also benefit from these performance enhancements. Firmware 5.2.11 is also updated, and some Wi-Fi connectivity issues are fixed.
*Since this version is still in the testing phase, if you want to 3D print an important project, it is still recommended to use the currently released official version of Ultimaker Cura 4.0 .
