[3D Printing News] SLS Hexagonal Cube is super elastic, it can be flattened and bounce back without deforming!

It's been a while since I shared the internal appearance of the Sinterit Lisa 3D printer . This time, it's 3D printing an infinitely continuous three-dimensional hexagonal structure. I tested it by hand and it's incredibly bouncy! How exactly is such a complex hollow structure created? Let's take a look!

After opening, there are two powder inlets inside. Clean the inlets with a vacuum cleaner, then pour in the desired printing powder. This time, Flexa Grey elastic grey powder is used, which has the soft, bouncy properties of TPU, suitable for parts such as plugs, cushioning materials, and gaskets. Although both are TPU, the finished products from FDM hot melt stacking and SLA photopolymerization differ due to the molding technology, with SLS being the closest to fabric or a natural texture. The printing platform on the right does not need to be filled with powder. It will be filled layer by layer through the powder inlet on the left when the machine is closed for 3D printing . After filling, just follow the instructions of Sinterit Lisa to start printing and it will be completed automatically! After completion and opening, the 3D printing powder and the finished product will move to the printing platform on the right. The platform will push up the printed powder block, which can be scooped up with a special scraper.

Next, you can use your hands to peel off the firm powder clumps in large pieces! After most of the powder has been removed, the product shape will be revealed one by one. Because the soft material is elastic, you can press it while cleaning to make the internal cleaning faster.

Finally, we used a brush and air gun to clean off the remaining powder. Because SLS technology uses laser melting rather than adhesive bonding, the finished product will not have any more powder falling off after it is cleaned.

The matte finish of the finished product makes the cube feel softer to the touch, and it can spring back to its original shape no matter how much it is crushed, making it ideal for testing parts that reciprocate.
