[3D Printing Software] Ultimaker Cura 3.3 beta version released.
Ultimaker Cura 3.3 beta has been released. Download now to discover a host of new features, plugins, bug fixes, and enhanced support for third-party printers.
What new features does Ultimaker Cura 3.3 beta have?
● New font for improved screen readability and seamless integration with Cura Connect ● New look for the add-on browser ● Circular main tower provides a more reliable dual-extrusion experience ● Support blocks offer better control over the extension position of support material ● New option to disable the Ultimaker 3 extruder and unlock "print one at a time" mode
Please note: We have thoroughly tested this version, and it offers great functionality and improvements. However, it is still in the testing phase, and we cannot guarantee that it will have the same printing reliability as the beta and stable versions.
If you are developing an important project, we strongly recommend that you use the stable version of Ultimaker Cura.
UX improvements
Font updated. The default font has been changed to NotoSans, improving readability and consistency in Cura Connect. The font update also fixes some rendering issues on Mac OSX.
The font has been updated to NotoSans
Configuration/Sync Buttons. The Configuration and Sync buttons are now available for network-connected printers to synchronize all available settings in the Cura Connect group.
Group hostnames will be automatically extracted from the API, and network printers and local printers will be listed separately.
Displays compatibility settings for the connected printer.
Set readability presets. The presets will guide you to the most important settings. A small selection unit next to the search bar makes it easy to set readability presets.
Model Assistant. For models larger than 15 x 15 x 15 cm printed using ABS, PC, PP, or CPE+, tips will be enabled to inform the user how to achieve the best results.
Adding models speeds up the process. The speed increases significantly when adding models.
A tooltip will appear indicating that a profile cannot be set. If a profile in suggestion mode is grayed out, the tooltip will inform the user why.
When no material is placed in Ultimaker 3. When no material is loaded into the extruder in Ultimaker 3, it will display "Empty" instead of "Unknown".
Optimize slicing engine
Single Extruder Mode . Disables the extruder on Ultimaker 3 for single-pass printing. In the right panel, right-click the desired extruder and select "Disable Extruder" to disable it.
Restart the extruder by right-clicking and selecting "Start Extruder". The print settings profile will optimize and update all settings for the enabled extruder, such as print platform temperature, for better print quality.
Using a single extrusion mode also provides the "print one at a time" function for the Ultimaker 3 or other dual extrusion printers.
Circular main tower . The main tower is now circular. The circular main tower path makes printing easier, the structure more robust, the interlayer adhesion better, and it adheres better to the printing platform, reducing the possibility of failure.
The circular turret allows the printhead to run more smoothly and more robustly.
Connecting fill lines . Mesh and triangle fill graphics now feature connecting lines for more stable flow, better modeling, rigidity, and reduced impact on external wall quality.
Support Blocks . Generates a cube mesh to prevent support material from being generated in specific areas of the model. The cube can be scaled, rotated, and moved using standard adjustment tools to suit user requirements.
Use support blocks to prevent support from forming in specific areas.
True bridging . New experimental features detect bridging and adjust print speed and fan speed to improve print quality for bridged components.
The CuraEngine executable has been updated . The CuraEngine executable now includes a dedicated icon, author information, and certifications.
The application uses RapidJSON and ClipperLib from the system libraries . The application was updated to use a verified copy of the repository, reducing maintenance time (since it's now handled by the operating system) and reducing code size (because it doesn't need to be redistributed if it's already on the user's system).
Compressed gcode . Gcode stored from Ultimaker Cura is now compressed to save space (using gzip).
Improve printing behavior
Initial layer flow . A new setting in the "Materials" category allows you to adjust the initial layer flow for better user control.
The initial run retraction . Retraction has been added to the initial run to reduce the chance of spots appearing on the part before the print edge/skirt side.
Unnecessary shrinkage . Eliminate shrinkage during layer changes in spiral mode to improve model quality.
Faster running paths . So far, the path order optimizer works by taking the shortest route from one point to another. When using combinator, any route may take longer because it needs to navigate around obstacles.
Now, combing distance can be used to achieve more consistent results.
Update the cheat
The plug-in browser's appearance and feel . The plug-in browser has been updated with a better look and feel, making it consistent with other UI elements. The author's name is clickable; open the email address to contact the author directly for support. The uninstall button can now also be used to uninstall the plug-in.

New add-ons . Ultimaker Cura has added three new add-ons: expandable extra materials, print temperature adjustment, and fan off.
Preheat the extruder . A new feature allows preheating via the printer monitor.
Rename TweakAtZ to 'ChangeAtZ' . The script has been renamed to be more consistent with other scripts.
Import XML Material Configuration File Check . Before importing Ultimaker Cura, check the XML material configuration file now to avoid potential problems.
Fix bugs
We are constantly working to fix various bugs to achieve a better user experience:
● Filler density can now be applied to two extruders, not just one. ● The slicing engine fails when using material slicing at 0°C. ● Fixed an issue where users could not connect to the printer after losing their network connection. ● Replace the comtypes module in the SolidWorks add-in with win32com to fix the bug.
Third-party printers
We have updated the configuration profiles for third-party machines, including FABtotum, Dagoma, uBuild, Cartesio, Printrbot, SeeMeCNC, Velleman Vertex, and gMax 1.5.
