SanDiMa was honored to be invited to participate in this year's Taipei University of Technology Interactive Design Department graduation exhibition, and provided students with four Ultimaker 3D printers , filaments , and printing services . These future cutting-edge designers were truly eye-opening, like being in an amusement park—what fun and creative ideas did they have on display?
The entrance to the exhibition hall featured many clever touches; the animations on the touchscreens would generate different random rhythms depending on the viewer's adjustments. Inside the cage were numerous 3D-printed "reactive particles," representing a dynamic and lively element, with two different 3D printing filaments used to create varying reflective effects. The exhibition corridor is very well-planned, with a smooth flow of introduction, development, transition, and conclusion. The opening screen animation is divided into a nine-square grid, and the buttons below produce different effects. In addition to the screen display, it also has a stress-relieving dice effect, making it a lot of fun to play!
One of the works explaining plant dyeing is located next to the 3D printer . Through videos, touch screens, and retro installations made up with related tools, it allows people to understand the materials and processes of traditional plant dyeing. It presents traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, which is very fascinating.
The design of the "animation phantom box" should be familiar to everyone. Its principle is to use the rotation speed of the turntable and the flashing frequency to generate dynamic images using "persistence of vision," which usually requires relatively complicated field control. However, students with computer science backgrounds designed everything from the circuit board to the flashing frequency themselves. Not only does the device have built-in LED lights, but the turntable also uses an automatic acceleration system.
Next to it are arranged progressively moving frames of the characters (i.e., individual "frames" of animation). Viewers can arrange these frames to view different scenes according to their preferences, creating a sense of participation through the process of placement and manipulation. The automatic flashing of lights is also a delightful surprise. The characters are 3D printed using photopolymerization , a 3D printing technology best suited for figurine production in terms of surface smoothness. In addition, there are various exciting VR games, puzzle games, and interactive projection hopscotch, creating a more amusement park-like atmosphere than a design exhibition. The key to interactive design lies in focusing on the user experience, thus allowing the designer's clever touches to be discovered during the game process.

Four Ultimaker 3D printers were set up at the exhibition , and black reactive particles were visible everywhere. Visitors could pick them up, look at them, and play with them. The 3D printers , as part of the interactive display, were constantly producing , attracting many students and guests who watched with curiosity.
