At the SHINING 3D launch event, which our correspondent from 3D Systems attended, 3D Systems and Siemens collaborated again to launch the new Geomagic Essentials integrated software, which makes it easier than ever to convert 3D scans into CAD.
So what are the features of Geomagic Essentials ? While the latest 3D scanners can produce high-speed, high-precision images, converting these digitally processed stereo images into industrial CAD still requires relatively complex modifications. Geomagic Essentials, as a bridging software, was created to address this need.
Beyond bridging the gap between 3D scanning and CAD computation, Geomagic Essentials handles 3D scan imaging in a way that ensures the computational results are compatible with CAD models, allows for editing during the scanning process, and connects the entire workflow from 3D scanning to reverse engineering and 3D printing. This feature significantly improves the convenience of engineering production and can convert 3D scans into mesh systems or surface calculations. Taking automobiles as an example: for perfectly symmetrical objects, only half needs to be quickly scanned, converted into CAD calculations, and then directly copied symmetrically; for tires, three more can be directly copied after a complete 3D scan. In addition, there are built-in functions for repairing damaged surfaces, excavating holes, and filling gaps.
In addition to the new Geomagic Essentials , the previously included reverse engineering software Solid Edge SHINING 3D Edition is of course also essential, offering improved features such as generative design, simulation, and CAD tools.
