With the addition of more equipment, many customers have shown great interest in laser processing . This time, we'll answer some of our most frequently asked questions: How can laser processing simultaneously distinguish between "images" and "tangents"? Can scorch marks be avoided when processing material edges?
Since our assistant has to arrange shipments every day, we decided to make a doorplate so drivers can immediately tell whether there are any deliveries to pick up that day. Following the wooden doorplate we made last time (further reading: "Bentwood Structure" with Laser Cutting, Wooden Book Covers Are Super Flexible! ), it has also become popular with other freight companies. This time, we'll use an acrylic doorplate for a teaching demonstration:
First, you can use Adobe Illustrator to draw your favorite pattern or download an open-source image, save it as a PDF, and then import it into MUSE 's professional software "RetinaEngrave v3.0". This software doesn't need to be downloaded; simply enter the IP address from the MUSE control panel into your browser, and it will automatically open and import the PDF file.
On the left side of the screen, you can see a folder containing the results of the automatic calculation of this image file. Currently, there are two files in the folder. The icon at the top represents "tangent line", and the one at the bottom belongs to "image".
If you look at the "tangent" section alone, you'll see the outermost edge of the signboard being cut, where the outer frame will be separated. The right-hand panel allows you to adjust the speed, power, and number of passes. Since it's the cutting point, the values are usually set to 100% by default.
The image section includes the entire bear and the text. The right side has more editable items, listed in order:
Resolution: Up to 1000 dpi, this time it is 250 x 250 dpi.
Laser power: The higher the value, the stronger the laser. For this case, which is used for acrylic image engraving, we selected 50%.
• Negative Extreme Values: Similar to negative film effects and contrast value functions, generally based on preset values except when converting photos to engravings.
Note that the power settings for "image" engraving and the "cutting line" are separate. Please confirm this before pressing Start! The file order on the left can be adjusted by dragging. This tells the MUSE laser processing machine the desired production order; for example, in this case, we'll cut the boundaries first and then engrave the image. After pressing Start, the laser head will execute automatically! The red highlight indicates the part that emits the laser beam. This engraving will take approximately 15 minutes, and we'll add an extra cut line around the edges.
After laser cutting, a gentle push will result in a perfect separation! If you don't want scorch marks on the wood when cutting or carving, or if you are worried about deformation when using acrylic or plastic materials, you can use a low laser power and increase the number of passes.
Laser-cut acrylic products look very delicate. The control interface is convenient, and the measured percentages are very accurate, overcoming common problems with typical laser processing . The side edges also have a smooth cut rather than a hazy white effect, and upon close inspection, the engraved patterns can be seen reflected.
