Ultimaker Cura 4.4 has been officially released! The "Target Setting" slider, mentioned in the previous beta version, is now officially enabled! The tutorial video is super easy; let's take a sneak peek:
3D printed mechanical parts require high dimensional accuracy and tolerances, while visual prototypes need clear details and smooth surfaces. Different combinations of numerical values can produce different printing results. Ultimaker has developed new methods to achieve these goals quickly and easily. Cura 4.4, the official version, has undergone some minor adjustments based on user feedback, with three main projects emphasizing different professional applications:
1. Visual: Visual models of high-quality shapes and surfaces, suitable for design, proposals, and other visually important aspects.
2. Engineering: Enhancing the high precision requirements and reducing tolerances in 3D printing .
3. Draft: By shortening 3D printing time, a preliminary prototype can be quickly obtained or the feasibility of a concept can be verified.
When adjusting the slider for "Target Setting", you can see that other parameter values will be changed automatically, so that users no longer need to spend time modifying the numerical settings one by one; and everyone in the office can use the 3D printer very easily, even without an engineering background, to print finished products with high precision dimensions.
The reduced setup time is even more noticeable when printing with dual printheads on PLA , Tough PLA , and ABS with support materials such as PVA and Breakaway , and all of them are perfectly compatible with the Ultimaker S5 Pro Bundle , Ultimaker S5 , and Ultimaker S3 .
What else is new in the new version? Besides the "Goal Setting" feature, the new Cura 4.4 also improves UX and fixes bugs, providing users with a better experience:
• Individual Model Settings: Apply slice settings to specific parts of the model. In this version, it is easier to do so using a dedicated icon in the toolbar.
• Improved performance: Pop-ups are now smoother, making the interface more flexible and faster.
• Pause and Resume Printing: This function instructs the user to perform other operations during the pause, such as inserting a bearing into the slot and resuming 3D printing .
• Restore window option: Restores the previous window position and size to the last used state upon startup.
