[ FormBox Vacuum Application] External attachment for epidemic prevention face masks, filter can be replaced and cleaned!
With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of the mask rationing system 3.0, are you still struggling to obtain masks? Don't worry, the " FormBox Vacuum Forming Machine " can quickly produce face shields, effectively saving on mask usage while maintaining the same filtration efficiency! Prepare the three materials:
1. 3D printed models of the outer and inner covers of face masks (link at the end of the article)
2. Vacuum-formed inner cover, filter screen outer cover
3. Replaceable mask filter cloth
We used the Ultimaker S5 Pro Bundle 3D printer to make mask models, and the FormBox vacuum forming machine to make the mask shell. The material sheet is placed in the FormBox , heated and pressed down, and the mask mold can be completed in just a few seconds!
During the vacuuming process in FormBox , you can gently press the edges of the object to make the material sheet fit the model better. Be careful as the temperature of the ceramic heater (160°C - 340°C) will heat up the material sheet. You can use a pencil or handkerchief to avoid getting burned!
After vacuum forming, cut out the shape from the two 3D mask material pieces using an ultrasonic cutter or utility knife; then cut out the filter cloth and cotton rope from a regular mask. Two filter cloths can be made from one mask, and the elastic cotton rope can also be used on the vacuum-formed mask.
Since the inner layer of the mask will be in direct contact with the face for a long time, the choice of materials must be especially careful! We use FormBox , a transparent injection-molded sheet that is food-safe and can be in contact with the human body, as the inner layer, while the outer layer uses a white material sheet ; after vacuum forming, the original shape can be easily removed, and the two materials fit perfectly.
Once all the materials are ready, use elastic cotton rope to secure the inner and outer layers of the mask and the filter cloth, and you're done!
