[ 3D Printing Application] JSPB - 3D Printing Jet Gun

SanDiMa is very honored to have an exclusive interview with JSPB, a Taiwanese manufacturer of Jet Strike Plastic Blasters that is popular in the United States.
An abbreviation for "launching foam bullets".
The JSPB soft bullet gun series is designed and manufactured entirely in Taiwan, and is marketed globally as a package of materials, making it a unique source of pride for Taiwan.

JSPB's products are all self-developed, designed, and manufactured using the Ultimaker 3D printer —jet gun toy kits—which are sold online.
Most of our customers are from the United States and are players in the Nerf soft pellet gun community, mostly socialites who love modification.
The most popular products currently are JSPB B&B MINIHOPPER
, JSPB PRO2 , and JSPB EXTRA LIVES.

JSPB B&B MINIHOPPER: A foam bullet launcher made by combining 3D printing with water pipes; a beginner-friendly DIY kit.
JSPB PRO2: A larger launcher with more 3D printed components, suitable for advanced players, offering precise shooting with three tactical rails.
JSPB EXTRA LIVES: Extra Life Kits are life-sensing devices used for hosting events and competitions. They are bases that can be fixed to the arm to hold balloons.
The balloon will burst immediately if it is even slightly impacted, as the pressure will reach the sharp point of the base.

Design Process

JSPB founder Lin Lianyi, who is a big fan of shooting and DIY, combined these two interests to design a soft bullet gun launcher DIY kit.

Soft bullet guns are very safe because the bullets they fire are made of foam and will not cause damage indoors. Before 3D printers were available, traditional techniques had to be used to cut wood with wire saws to make parts for connecting water pipes. This required both large machines and manual labor.

JSPB uses 3D printing technology to enable bolder designs. The 3D printing of water pipe fittings requires consideration of many structural designs. It takes about a year of continuous research and revision until the design is satisfactory before moving to the next mass production stage. This avoids excessive costs and eliminates the risk of stockpiling during mass production.

The JSPB PRO2 Soft Bullet Gun Ultimaker 2 Extended+, exclusively designed by JSPB, is now in print (long barrel).

When choosing a 3D printer, the Ultimaker2 was chosen because of its ease of troubleshooting and maintenance. Ultimaker offers free parts replacement within the warranty period, and parts can be replaced by the user even after the warranty expires. The replaceable printhead is a particularly appealing feature, providing greater flexibility in use.
The parts printed by the Ultimaker printer are of consistently high quality and precision.

Currently, JSPB uses a total of 4 Ultimaker 3D printers, which can operate simultaneously to print various different parts. The picture shows 3 machines printing at the same time.

JSPB Future Development

Currently, JSPB's products are mainly sold overseas (to the United States). In Taiwan, they need to be combined with teaching activities, such as drawing your own sights, printing them out, and taking your completed work home. Therefore, we will put more thought into the teaching aspect in the future.

In the future, we will also provide more free and paid digital products (3D model files) for download, so that overseas consumers can save on shipping costs and print them at home. We are also currently developing screwless and springless fully 3D printed model accessories.
