[3D Printing Application] Get medical protective gear made without ordering in just 3 quick steps!

What to do about falls and injuries? Custom-made protective gear is too expensive? Now, with 3D technology, you can quickly and easily customize medical aids in just 3 simple steps. Combining 3D scanning , 3D printing , and vacuum forming, perfectly fitting and comfortable rehabilitation gear is created. See the complete steps below:

We use the Einscan Pro 2X+ 3D scanner to perform 3D scanning without touching the injured area; we minimize human movement during the 3D scan , and can quickly obtain a 1:1 scale 3D image of the hand in just 5 minutes.

This project mainly focuses on creating protective gear for wrist sprains. The 3D image file can be edited directly in the scanning software. Just delete the finger parts and keep the main joints that are covered!

By importing the 3D image of the hand into Ultimaker Cura for automatic processing, you can use Ultimaker S5 3D to print out a physical model of the hand. Finally, place it into the FormBox vacuum mold for shaping , and an identical protective gear shell will be completed!

(During the vacuum forming process, you can press the fabric against the edges of the model, or use a high-powered vacuum cleaner to make the protective gear fit better.)

After cutting the outer shell of the brace, it is fixed with Velcro, and the wrist brace, which is moderately soft and hard and easy to put on and take off, is completed. It is not only comfortable to wear, but also can effectively fix the patient's wrist joint.

( FormBox transparent injection-molded sheets are not only certified for food safety, but can also be in contact with the human body for up to 8 hours.)

Using a 3D scanner , a customized 3D image can be safely created for the patient without the need to press the affected area with a "strip" or wait for the plaster to dry for a long time. Combining 3D printing and vacuum forming technology to customize medical protective gear provides a faster, lower-cost and more comfortable medical experience.
