[3D Printing Application] Metal Slug Vietnam War Tank! Step out of the game and "play for real"!

Before mobile games, single-player games accompanied many people through their childhood. This time, we're going to use 3D printing to relive a classic game: Metal Slug: Vietnam War! Do you remember these classic game scenes? The best part of each level before fighting the big boss was getting equipment. This time, we're going to make this classic American tank jump out of the small screen.

In this 3D printing , we disassembled the objects individually to achieve a precision of 0.15mm. Placing the image file into Cura automatically calculates the growth of the supporting material, eliminating the need for separate modeling—very convenient. Furthermore, the latest version, Cura 3.6, allows for custom design of the supporting molding structure. (Further reading: A New Look for the New Year! The 3D printers used were the Ultimaker S5 and Ultimaker 3 , with PLA as the main material and PVA water-soluble support. Both the Ultimaker S5 and Ultimaker 3 have dual-nozzle systems, allowing for the printing of both materials in a single pass. The total 3D printing time after disassembly was approximately two days. The 3D-printed tank was completely surrounded by PVA . After being submerged in water and allowed to dissolve completely, the individual parts could be reassembled, making the process convenient, fast, and a great post-processing tool for those who prefer a simpler approach.



The tank wheels are stunning. In addition to the design of the wheel rims, even the connecting structure of the chains is very clear, and the hollow structure of the launcher barrel is also very clear.





The thin-shell design of the rear exhaust pipe is also present, and it is even slightly translucent. Just how thin is it? The actual measurement is only about 0.5mm, and the curvature is also very complete.





The assembled finished product measures approximately 20cm x 23cm x 26cm (excluding the printing volume using PVA filament). The silver PLA used has a metallic texture, which perfectly complements the realism of the tank.
