We've just released Ultimaker Cura 3.6 for Windows, macOS, and Linux. As mentioned before, Ultimaker recently partnered with a leading cable supplier, so we're bringing you this update quickly!
Expand the software by easily managing add-ons and cable settings (in the Marketplace options).



Download 3D printing filament configuration files from the Marketplace, such as those from the five partner companies mentioned earlier; each configuration file is created and tested by their experts to ensure seamless integration with the Ultimaker 3D printer .
Combining these functional lines and printing settings with the CC Red 0.6 ruby ​​printhead for the Ultimaker S5 allows these composite materials to achieve optimal results, such as newly developed flame-retardant and ESD-safe materials, pushing the limits of current applications.
In addition, Cura 3.6 adds a brand-new fill type: spiral fill, as well as other new features and improved stability, allowing 3D printed products to reach a higher level. You can click the link at the end of the article to download it for free from the official website.



The following is an introduction to the 12 added features:

Enhanced Slicing Engine <br />Spiral Fill: This new fill pattern interweaves each layer, providing equal intensity distribution in every physical direction and saving 3D printing time and consumables.
When this type of fully connected internal structure is applied to water-soluble supports, it allows enclosed parts to dissolve the internal support using only a single drainage hole, or to fill the empty space with reinforcing materials such as epoxy resin; you can find spiral filling in the custom mode of the "Fill Mode" drop-down menu.

• Support Edges <br>When using support material, edges can be generated within the support fill area of ​​the first layer; support edges are printed below the support material, unlike regular edges with structural material. This new setting significantly improves the adhesion between the support and the platform, making 3D printing more stable.

• Restructuring Settings <br>We've made structural changes to the application's engine to better test future storage modes and configuration interfaces; these improvements can increase slicing speed and make future development easier.

• Paired with ruby ​​printing nozzles CC Red 0.6
Alongside the Ultimaker S5 setup files and these composite materials, the new ruby ​​nozzle— CC Red 0.6— is now officially available. This improved 3D printing nozzle is compatible with abrasive and composite materials and will inspire a range of industrial applications.



Marketplace
The Marketplace offers a quick and easy way to add plugins to Ultimaker Cura, helping to streamline the rapid prototyping workflow. It not only uses advanced engineering materials but also automatically matches the optimal settings for perfect 3D printing quality. Switch between the Marketplace menu and select the appropriate fields.

Firmware Testing <br>We improve and test the firmware update code to receive update notifications and obtain the latest firmware and Cura Connect features.

Switching to full-screen mode is now easier and can be toggled using keyboard shortcuts: Command + Control + F (macOS) or F11 (Windows and Linux). If you prefer using a mouse, select the new option in the View menu.

Configuration Error Warning <br />The old version of Ultimaker Cura would display an error dialog box when affecting user profiles or resetting to factory default settings, but would not warn that this would also affect the current 3D printer and printing settings; this has now been changed to be more explicit to prevent any unexpected situations from occurring.

• Select Cooling Fan <br>If your 3D printer has multiple fans, you can now specify which cooling fan to use. This new feature can be found in the "Machine Settings" section of the "Extruder" tab.

File Name and Layer Display <br>The M117 command has now been added to the GCODE generator, enabling real-time information on print job file names and layer numbers. This feature is also effective if the 3D printer has a touchscreen image display like the Ultimaker S5 .

• New Third-Party Definitions <br>We now support more third-party 3D printers , including Anycube 4MAx and Tizyx K25, among others.
Ender-3 settings in third-party printers: Adjust the 3D printer to the correct size of 235 x 235 mm and correct the start sequence and print nozzle position when clearing or completing print.

• Continuously improved and more stable <br>This version has fixed macOS compatibility bugs, memory leaks in the Monitor page, reduced the possibility of print nozzles colliding with printed objects, fixed sudden malfunctions when using supports, resolved layer display issues, and more.
