Dutch lighting company Yuugn recognized this problem and designed 3D-printed lighting fixtures for offices, commercial spaces, and schools, promoting sustainability.
Yuugn believes it has a responsibility to produce environmentally friendly products to reduce pollution from traditional methods. Before making their selection, they personally visited the Dutch headquarters to inspect the components used for prototyping and final use, including the BCN3D 3 Sigma D25s 3D printer .

The vortex downlight, featuring a vibrant metallic purple body, is a ceiling-mounted device that directs light downwards. The rings of the vortex are 3D printed , with the visible portion facing down onto glass, allowing for a high-quality finish. The material used is carbon fiber-reinforced biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA) to enhance its strength and high-temperature resistance—two crucial considerations in the lighting industry.


The side cover design of the ZIP module 60 LED fixture ensures that the components are securely embedded. All components are printed using carbon fiber PLA.


How does Yuugn maintain sustainable development?

The replication mode in 3D printing effectively reduces carbon emissions in production. With replication mode, it's possible to purchase two 3D printers for the price of one. The IDEX technology in Sigma D25s saves time, money, and protects the planet. It enables rapid customization of part prototypes for each customer and local production, contributing to environmental protection. The 3D printing process allows teams to use organic compounds and biodegradable materials made from renewable resources. Currently, the Yuugn team is researching recyclable materials, particularly a soft, colorful material made from PET bottles. If combined with 3D printed parts, it could create a final product that combines efficient processing with high quality.

Looking ahead, Yuugn hopes to continue exploring new environmentally friendly materials and one day use solar energy as a direct power source for its printers.
