[3D Printing Tutorial] Star Wars: Phrozen Resin 3D Printing Full Report!

A must-read for Star Wars fans! With Season 2 of "The Mandalorian" having concluded at the end of 2020, many of you might still be feeling its lingering effects. Through this unboxing review of the "Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4K Resin 3D Printer," we'll bring the Mandalorian and Grogu (Baby Yoda) from the screen to reality. At the end of the article, we'll also show you the details of the finished 3D prints and where to download free model data. Furthermore, we'll provide clear, image-based explanations of the 3-step platform calibration and 5-step slicing settings. Even beginners can get started right away!

・Platform Calibration: 3 Steps
First, remove the toolbox and sponge from inside the full top cover of thePhrozen Sonic Mighty. Next, loosen the fixing knobs on the left and right sides of the resin tank at the bottom, remove the resin tank, and performplatform calibration.

1. Loosen the fixing screws on the build plate
Loosen the screws that secure the build plate at the top (no need to remove them).

2. Place paper and calibrate with one touch
Place one sheet of paper on the LCD panel, then tap "Tool" → "Z Calib" on the screen. The build plate will automatically lower to the LCD panel.

3. Tighten the screws and auto-raise
Once you have confirmed that the build plate is firmly in contact with the paper and LCD panel, retighten the four screws. Finally, tap "Done" on the screen, and the build plate will automatically rise, completing the calibration.

After confirming these three steps and ensuring the bottom LCD curing light is working correctly, finally secure the resin tank, and your 3D printer is ready.

・Model Slicing Procedure: 5 Steps
Before printing with the Phrozen Sonic Mighty 3D printer, slice the model using the CHITUBOX slicing software.

1. Click "Settings" to open the settings screen.

2. Click the add icon "" and select the resin 3D printer you are using, "Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4K," from the printer selection screen.

3. Select the Phrozen resin you will use, depending on the application and materials. (Download here: Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4K Resin Setting Parameters)

4. Load the 3D model file and click "" on the "Support" screen. Users can freely adjust various parameters according to their application and printing conditions.

5. Once settings are complete, you can drag the slider on the right to view a printing simulation. Before starting 3D printing, make sure that supports are appropriately placed for all overhangs in the model.

Finally, click "Slice" to create the sliced data for the model. After processing, detailed information such as the type of resin to be used and the printing time will be displayed. Save the file to a USB drive (saved with the ".ctb" extension) and load it into the Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4K to start printing.

Once the 3D print is complete, a "Mandalorian" figure, approximately 20cm tall, will be finished along with its support structures! Removing the supports with an ultrasonic cutter reveals the incredible detail, from the armor, cape, blaster, and ammunition belt to the texture of the fabric on the arms and the delicate details of the fingertips, demonstrating an astonishing level of completeness.

Furthermore, the Mandalorian's companion, "Grogu (Baby Yoda)," was also produced using the same process with resin 3D printing. Although only 5 x 4.5 cm in size, the wrinkles on its face, eyelids, and the delicate creases of its clothing are all clearly reproduced. Once assembled with the base, it's complete! This is an irresistible collector's model for Star Wars fans.
