Shining 3D has launched its latest 3D scanning product, Einstar Vega, promising to provide customers with professional digital modeling and image capture capabilities.
The Einstar Vega is a handheld 3D scanner, which Shining 3D calls an "all-in-one" scanner.
Vega can scan, post-process, and store models. Einstar Vega includes two 3D scanning technologies, built-in computing, and internal data archiving, allowing users to scan and access data anytime, anywhere without connecting to a computer or other device, and share data with SHINING3D Cloud. It comes with the PC software "StarVision," supporting data editing, post-processing, and project merging.

Dual scanning mode
Although Shining 3D states that VEGA is targeted at beginners and non-industrial users, it inherits the same data acquisition and software editing capabilities as its professional 3D scanning products.
Vega also offers two scanning modes – Fast and High Definition – each utilizing a different type of scanning technology.
Two unique scanning technologies have been optimized for their specific advantages:
The fast mode uses an infrared VCSEL (vertical cavity surface emitting laser) projector to efficiently scan large objects.
The fast mode is suitable for large objects, with a working distance of 350-1500 mm and a scanning speed of up to 20 FPS.
To achieve this goal, it used an infrared VCSEL projector.
The high-definition mode uses a MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) projector to scan small objects with high detail.
The high-definition mode uses a MEMS projector with a working distance of 100-250 mm and a speed of up to 15 FPS.

Portable and high-performance
In terms of hardware, Vega features 32 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and an eight-core 2.4 GHz processor, all in a "lightweight" 535 g configuration.
To perform the scan, you will use the device's 48MP RGB camera and 6.4-inch 2K AMOLED screen.
Shining 3D states that the EINSTAR VEGA can operate for up to two hours before needing a charge, although it can also be used while charging.
Shining 3D specializes in developing affordable products for industrial scanning and 3D measurement. The company says its new wireless scanner, EINSTAR VEGA, is designed to meet the needs of designers, artists, engineers, and manufacturers seeking portable, high-performance solutions.

Flexibility and applicability
Shining 3D states that, compared to industry scanners geared towards users in highly regulated sectors such as medical, aerospace, and automotive, VEGA was developed to meet the needs of users who do not necessarily require metrology-grade measurement accuracy, but rather prioritize usability and flexibility for everyday applications in 3D measurement, digital archiving, object restoration, or art projects.
"Everyone has put in tremendous effort for the development of VEGA," said the project leader. "From project initiation to product launch, we spent more than two years working together as a team to overcome one technical challenge after another. From hardware to software to algorithms, every iteration and update is the result of everyone's joint efforts."
