[3D Scanning] Unboxing the Creality Raptor Pro 3D Scanner
Creality’s Raptor Pro makes industrial-grade 3D scanning more accessible than ever, combining exceptional detail reproduction with surprising ease of use.
Capturing real-world objects for use in 3D software, game development, or even 3D printing was once a task limited to those with access to expensive technology.
However, in 2025, this technology is more accessible than it has ever been.
Creality, known for its 3D printers, laser cutters, and other maker-oriented technologies, is leading that charge with the new Creality Raptor Pro 3D scanner.

Ready to use right out of the box
The Raptor Pro's hard case contains the scanner unit, manuals, a calibration plate, a USB cable, a power cable, and markers for your objects.
Everything is carefully packed, providing a complete set of what you need to start scanning. Overall, it has a solid build quality and feels well-finished.
Ready to use immediately after unboxing, the Creality CR-Scan Raptor Pro is an impressive device with a look and feel that belies its price. It is a handheld dual-mode scanner that provides metrology-grade accuracy at a price point accessible to small studios and individual creators.

Ready to use immediately after unboxing, the Creality CR-Scan Raptor Pro is an impressive device with a look and feel that belies its price. It is a handheld dual-mode scanner that provides metrology-grade accuracy at a price point accessible to small studios and individual creators.

It combines 22 crossed blue laser lines, 7 parallel laser lines, and near-infrared structured light technology.
You can scan a wide variety of objects, from parts as small as your fingertip to entire vehicles. It offers a maximum accuracy of 0.02 mm and supports objects ranging from 5 mm to 4000 mm in size.
In practice, it is both functional and fast, capturing fine details on hard surfaces clearly.
The performance is impressive, and once you start setting it up and calibrating, you will quickly realize the vast potential of 3D scanners like the Raptor Pro.

High speed and high definition
Creality positions the Raptor Pro as a high-speed, high-definition instrument. It supports scanning at 660,000 points per second at up to 60 fps in laser mode, and can capture 24-bit color data in NIR mode.
Its volumetric accuracy is 0.02 mm + 0.08 mm/m.
It is easy to use among its peers; by matching the scan mode and environment settings to your task, it delivers consistent performance in both detail capture and speed.
While there are two methods for object acquisition, the blue laser method is particularly noteworthy.
It can scan matte metals and black resins without the need for sprays, capturing even scratches and wear patterns that are difficult for consumer-grade structured light systems to detect.

The Raptor Pro's Near-Infrared (NIR) mode is fast and captures colors accurately. It is well-suited for creators dealing with large interior spaces or automotive parts, where speed and tracking the surrounding texture are key.
In blue laser mode, you can switch between 22 crossed lines for wide-area coverage and 7 parallel lines for high-precision acquisition, focusing on scanning parts with strict tolerances.
The texture and color reproduction of the Raptor Pro is impressive. It is a useful tool for independent game designers, filmmakers, and 3D artists who want to enhance the quality of their material data and the overall finish of their work.

When using the blue laser mode, marker stickers are required.
While the software can automatically remove them from the mesh, applying and cleaning them up takes time.
For small to medium-sized parts that require strict tolerances, the improvement in edge quality and surface accuracy is clear.
For large objects or scenarios with mixed surface characteristics, NIR mode allows you to maintain speed and capture color data without the need for markers. However, it is not as capable as the blue laser when it comes to reproducing fine geometry.
The Raptor Pro can maintain more stable tracking by properly placing markers.

Excellent cost-performance ratio
The capabilities and performance of this device are a pleasant surprise.
The retail price of the Raptor Pro is 75,600 Yuan. While not cheap, it strikes a good balance between expensive professional equipment and consumer-grade products that often feel limited in their functionality.
Just a few years ago, similar capabilities would have required a much higher investment. Compared to current professional-grade setups, assembling an equivalent system would likely cost more than twice as much.

It is heartening to see this technology become widely available, allowing new creators and makers to attempt projects they would have thought impossible just a few years ago.
The Raptor Pro is priced lower than Creality's own high-end models while maintaining the same precision as the original Raptor and boosting speed by 24%.

This makes it attractive for individual fabricators, cosplayers, digital artists, and service providers who need reliable scanning performance without the expense of enterprise-grade equipment.
It can scan black and ferrous surfaces without spray, and the NIR mode's range has been expanded to 4,000 mm. This allows you to capture automotive parts or jigs without complex preparation, while maintaining excellent detail reproduction.
When you need to capture sharp edges on mechanical parts or scan for game development and 3D printing, the Raptor Pro's blue laser mode delivers results that meet the specifications. With the proper environment settings, marker placement, and scan overlap, you can work quickly.
For larger objects, interiors, or full panels, the markerless operation and color acquisition of NIR mode allow you to reduce prep time and work more smoothly.
