PolyLite™ ASA is a weather-resistant material that combines the mechanical properties of ABS with excellent weather resistance, often serving as an alternative to ABS. Its UV resistance makes it ideal for everyday applications such as automotive exterior parts, building materials, sporting goods, and outdoor equipment.

Why use ASA?

ASA is a common FDM/FFF 3D printing filament and an excellent engineering plastic with good mechanical and physical properties. It can be exposed to the outdoors or cold climate for a long time. ASA has a similar structure to ABS, but has three optimizations: better mechanical properties, superior aesthetic appearance, and UV resistance.

Therefore, ASA material exhibits exceptional resistance to prolonged exposure to harsh weather conditions, a feature lacking in ABS and suitable for all industries. It also compensates for the warping issue that occurs when printing large objects with ABS, making it ideal for the automotive industry, outdoor applications, and electrical applications (using junction boxes), preventing yellowing and other problems after more than a year.

In 3D printing parameter settings, the typical printhead heating temperature of ASA is 240 to 260°C, while the substrate temperature is 75 to 95°C.
