[3D Surround Scan] NTUST 3D Printing Practice Area: A Panoramic Reality for Remote Teaching!
Is remote learning during the pandemic too tough? Experience a truly immersive learning experience from afar with a 360-degree panoramic view! The "3D Materials Art Dream Workshop" at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, breaks away from traditional teaching methods, offering a 3D panoramic NTUST dream factory:
The National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) is a very famous university of science and technology in Taiwan. It has six colleges: Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management, Design, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Applied Technology. It aims to cultivate high-level engineering and management talents and is the dream school for many students!
In order to enable students to learn various 3D printing technologies and unleash their potential, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology applied for the Ministry of Education's Optimization of Vocational and Technical Fields Project to build a 3D printing practice field (3D Materials Dream Workshop). Students can use various 3D printers , 3D scanners , laser engraving machines , CNC milling machines and other technical equipment to unleash their wildest creative ideas.
At the 2020 3D Printing Exhibition , Sandima met with Professor Hsin-Ping Huang from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. They were also honored to collaborate with Matterport Spatial Scanning to capture a panoramic view of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering's 3D printing practice area and transform it into a 360-degree virtual surround space .
"Due to the pandemic, the school switched to online courses, and students were unable to physically participate, which made the implementation of experimental courses extremely difficult. By using surround scanning technology to assist in remote teaching, students can not only feel more present, but the results of Matterport surround scanning can also be used anytime through online sharing, making it easier to explain in teaching!" said Professor Hsin-Ping Huang from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
The 3D Printing Workshop is equipped with a wide variety of technical equipment, including 3D printers , 3D scanners , laser engraving machines , and CNC milling machines . The workshop has a spacious area where students can freely exchange ideas and create ideas, from the group discussion area, equipment practice area, computer use area, and finished product display area as soon as they enter!

The 3D Materials Dream Workshop offers a variety of Phrozen series photopolymer 3D printers , including the Phrozen Sonic Mini , Sonic Mighty , Shuffle , and Transform models; FLUX series laser engraving machines ; and Roland milling machines , providing students with industrial-grade equipment right on campus.
Once inside Matterport , simply click on the markers on the ground to freely navigate the 3D printing practice area. Use the mouse to easily adjust the angle up, down, left, and right, and view every detail of the space in high-definition.
" 3D surround scanning can achieve effects similar to Google Street View. We were deeply impressed by both its ease of use and the final virtual reality effect!" said Professor Huang Hsin-ping excitedly. The 3D printing practical training center of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology has actively hosted various courses and activities, while also allowing students to participate in organizing them. Through the process of preparing various courses and activities, not only can 3D printing -related talents be trained, but students' leadership qualities can also be cultivated!
