With the Year of the Snake approaching, Bambu Lab is hosting the Year of the Snake Design Contest. Participants are encouraged to create 3D models of the snake, exploring its rich symbolic meaning in Chinese culture—wisdom, elegance, and rebirth—and incorporating it into unique decorations or practical gadgets for Lunar New Year celebrations! Anyone with an FDM 3D printer , whether a Bambu Lab user or not, can participate—it's completely free!

🧧Trivia about the Year of the Snake from the Three Emperors!
While the snake 🐍 is primarily a negative symbol in both Chinese and Western cultures, this isn't entirely true! The snake also carries a positive connotation!
In ancient Chinese legends, snakes and cranes were considered auspicious symbols of longevity. In other cultures, ancient Egyptians believed the snake to be the protector of the monarch. Pharaohs crafted images of cobras from gold and precious stones, adorning their crowns as emblems of royal power.
In ancient China, snakes were also regarded as symbols of longevity, harvest, or the reproduction of offspring. Especially in the ancient cultures of the southwest or south, artifacts with snakes as the motif are common. The earliest of these is a round stone snake unearthed from the site of the ancient Shu people, which dates back to the late Shang Dynasty. At least four such artifacts have been found at the Jinsha site in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

After printing it out, I felt... the design still needs improvement, but it does have that 3D effect.
📖Year of the Snake Bookmark - Happy New Year 2025🔖
I was initially drawn to the design by its colors, then realized it was a dragon, not a snake... But it has the words "Year of the Snake" on it, so it fits the theme, I guess! (Haha)

Printed product!!
I also tried printing this myself! The results are great!
