[3D Printing News] Ultimaker S5 wins the 2019 German iF Design Award!
The Ultimaker S5 3D printer has won the prestigious iF Design Award. Through its user-friendly features and interface, Ultimaker and design agency GRO Design jointly received the iF Product Award at the awards ceremony held in Munich, Germany on March 15.
The Oscars of the design world
The iF Product Design Award, established in 1953, is an international product design award that receives over 2,000 entries annually from around the world, making it comparable to the Oscars of product design. For 65 years, the iF Design Award has represented quality assurance and paid tribute to outstanding design. Products are categorized into seven areas: Product, Packaging, Communication, Interior Architecture, Professional Concept, Service Design/User Experience, and Architecture. This year's jury, responsible for selecting the best designs, consisted of 67 design experts from around the world, and Ultimaker was one of over 6,400 entries from 50 countries. All iF Design Award winners, including the Ultimaker S5 , will be featured in this year's iF World Design Guide.
"I believe the iF Award is actually one of the most prestigious awards in the world because it is recognized by a large number of international designers," emphasized Damian Mackiewicz, a judge from Harman International Industries. He added that as a designer, it is very valuable to have your product designs evaluated by talents from around the world.
