[3D Printing News] Ultimaker Launches New Product: Separate Support Line and AA 0.25mm Printhead

Our goal is to help professional users achieve the same surface quality as biodegradable supports while saving time and costs by introducing fast, efficient supports using industrial materials such as ABS and CPE+ .
3D printing users have the freedom to choose various geometries when using support materials, but there may also be limitations, such as surface defects or extended post-processing time.
Our new product line is designed to overcome these limitations and create a better 3D printing workflow.

Separated wires - alternative support materials

We are gradually increasing the range of support materials we use in dual extrusion.
By offering a range of different support materials, users can choose their own post-processing workflow, each with its unique advantages. Our latest support material is split wire.

Breakaway is a white support material that utilizes reliable adhesive printing materials such as ABS.
The support material can be quickly and easily removed from printed objects: simply grasp the printed object and separate the support with pliers, cutters, a knife, or your hands. After removing the support material, the supported area will retain a smooth surface quality.
Gloves can be used, but are not mandatory. Although it is a support material, Breakaway can be used with 0.4 mm AA printheads .

Remove the separate support

Step 1 – Disassembly : Use pliers or cutting pliers to remove most of the internal support structure.



Step 2 - Peeling <br>Grasp and peel the separation support in the printed material.



Step 3 - Pull <br>Use pliers or tweezers to remove the last traces. The support area will be left with a smooth surface.


Breakaway's post-processing method is completely drying, making it ideal for use with water-sensitive printing materials.
Another advantage is that the separable support can achieve the same surface smoothness as the water-soluble support.
With quick and easy post-processing, designers and engineers can spend more time refining their concepts.
Other advantages of Breakaway are its shelf life and price. The separation material is unaffected by environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity, and its use is more cost-effective than other support materials.

Introducing the 0.25mm AA printhead - used for printing ultra-precise details.

Due to popular demand, we have expanded the range of printheads.

The new 0.25mm AA print nozzle features an ultra-fine 0.25mm nozzle width.

It is compatible with Ultimaker 3 and Ultimaker 3 Extended , and its 0.25mm AA print nozzles are ideal for printing that requires high-detail surface quality.

The tool on the left is printed with a 0.4mm AA printhead, while the tool on the right is printed with a 0.25mm AA printhead .

The key advantage of the 0.25mm AA print nozzle is its ability to print fine details and text, which is not easily achieved with other print nozzles.

The new addition to our print nozzle product line will be the AA type.
Users will now have the advantage of ultra-fine printing, as well as the benefit of dual extrusion – the ability to print patterns in two colors, or various material combinations with ultra-fine details. Different nozzle sizes can be quickly and easily exchanged without the need for any tools.

Potential Applications

Using 0.25mm AA print nozzles, it is suitable for a variety of applications, such as printing aesthetically pleasing objects, thin-walled objects, printing labels and fine text, as well as tolerance-fitting parts, such as hard-mounted parts, like nuts and bolts.
Potential use cases include microfluidics, dental mold castings, architectural models, and precision mechanical parts such as gears.

The 0.25mm AA printing nozzle will be sold as a single item at a retail price of NT$4,800.
Breakaway cables will be sold in 750g spools for a retail price of NT$2,380.
