Ultimaker 3 firmware has been quietly updated!!!!
The new Ultimaker 3 firmware (3.6) has many improved features. Let's take a look at the new features together!

Ultimaker continuously updates and improves its products and services to meet the needs of a wide range of 3D printing users. The latest firmware upgrade (3.6) adds new diagnostic features and improves system integration and user experience. Details are provided below~~

Key highlights of the latest version 3.6 are:

• Addition of previously missing features (compared to Ultimaker 2)
• Addition of diagnostic features to assist with support and repair
• Enhanced integration for future system updates
• Critical bug fixes
• Improved user flow

Key Updates

New features that directly improve the user experience:
• Material change during printing — accessible from the "Tune Extruder" menu
• Adjustable light brightness (and behavior) settings (similar to Ultimaker 2)
• Identification of sending user for network printing (viewable from the "Tune" menu)
• More precise XY offset calibration
• Notification function when firmware is updating or running

Diagnostic Features

This update aims to improve supportability and assist in diagnosing printer issues. The following features have been added:

• Two NFC test menus (NFC hardware operation check, and NFC tag detection test, even for non-Ultimaker materials (e.g., OV-Chipkaart))
• Limit switch function diagnostic test
• XY motion system diagnostic test (to prevent step loss, confirm motor operation, and check belt tension)
• Print Core PT100 sensor and heater response test (to check output and temperature rise)

System Integration Features

The following features have been added for integration with the Cura app and future products:

• API documentation added (http://[ip]/docs/api)
• Print history API (http://[ip]/api/v1/history/print_jobs) — to retrieve past print job information
• Event history API (http://[ip]/api/v1/history/events) — record of events within the printer
• Remaining material information for NFC materials can be obtained via API
• Each print job is assigned a unique ID, traceable via API
• Printer GUID retrieval API (http://[ip]/api/v1/system/guid)
• Heatbed preheating API useful for remote printing (file transfer not yet supported)
• Added API for retrieving print start information
• LED control API (color change, flashing control)

Critical Bug Fixes

Includes fixes that significantly improve the user experience:

• Fix for "I2C head communication error"
• Improved instant cancellation even when the heated bed is heating
• No longer needs to wait for the other nozzle to cool when using a single nozzle
• Fix for menu display misalignment issue
• Fixes for NFC material related issues (e.g., re-scanning the same filament)
• Fix for Print Core not reaching target temperature issue (related to cooling fan)
• Added timeout function when temperature is not reached

Other Changes

Other minor improvements:

• Simplified confirmation message for USB printing
• Fix for Cura's X/Y pop-up settings
• Improved stability for high-speed printing (200mm/s or more)
• Optimized heating speed at startup
• Fix for incorrect bed movement during Z offset operation
• Fix for reset issue when XY calibration is canceled
• Fix for network camera display issue
• Improved M0/M1 command processing
• Faster active leveling and XY calibration
• Fix for print refusal bug
