IMES 3D has become the factory of the future thanks to its 49 UltiMaker brand 3D printers acquired since its founding in 2013. This large printer farm allows IMES 3D to manufacture custom parts for customers from various industrial and professional sectors, including Gavà and Barcelona. As experts in UltiMaker machines, they fully utilize PC-ABS FR filament and UltiMaker S7 3D printers in automotive manufacturing applications.
Who is IMES 3D?
IMES 3D is a Spanish company specializing in 3D printing design and manufacturing, with over 40 Ultimaker 3D printers for mass production services.

Challenge: Building the final parts and prototype of a 4x4 car
IMES 3D has extensive experience in developing 3D printing solutions for its clients. Since its founding in 2013, they have seen the potential of this technology for multiple industries, especially the automotive industry. To this end, they use technologies such as Fused Deposition Modeling ( FDM ) or Multi-Jet Fusion ( MJF ) to meet the needs of companies such as SoloWrangler (a company that specializes in producing such jeeps).
The company, with its nine-person technical team and its massive IMES 3D printer factory, is able to tackle a variety of challenges, such as creating custom parts and making them durable enough to fit these 4x4 vehicles.
David Mestres, CEO of IMES 3D, said, "Using PC-ABS FR for printing on the UltiMaker S7 allows us to manufacture parking sensors, wheel centering devices, and custom mudguards that are robust enough for all-terrain vehicles such as the Jeep Wrangler ."

IMES 3D Executive Solution: UltiMaker S7 3D Printer and PC-ABS FR Cable
To obtain parts capable of withstanding the impacts of a Jeep Wrangler, IMES 3D uses the most reliable UltiMaker S7 3D printer in its lineup, employing PC-ABS flame-retardant 3D printing filament to manufacture the parts. One of the advantages IMES 3D found in the S7 is its flexible print bed, allowing for faster removal of complex parts, and better automatic flattening.

At the suggestion of Sicnova and its distributors, IMES 3D expanded its printer park, enabling it to manufacture over 2 million parts and 2,000 tools within three years. By combining the S7 with wires, IMES 3D has manufactured parking sensors, custom mudguards, and impact-resistant and fire-resistant wheel centering devices for its customers.

Result: 76% savings on parts and hundreds of products within two weeks.
Thanks to this technology, IMES 3D can offer customers durable parts at more competitive prices. Manufacturing a sensor cover for a 4x4 car in CNC costs €148, but in 3D it can be done for just €36. Furthermore, the IMES 3D team can design the product in a few hours, validate it in two days, and manufacture hundreds of units within two weeks.
"3D printing isn't just for prototyping: we're developing production processes with the best quality and geometry without generating huge amounts of waste," said David Mestres, executive director of IMES 3D. He explained that 3D printing contributes to the circular economy and will increasingly appear in more and more spaces.
