Sinterit has introduced a new powder for desktop SLS 3D printers —a flexible TPE material that combines the advantages of both plastics and rubber. TPE is elastic, with an elongation at break of 196%, several times higher than the tested values ​​for PA series materials. Furthermore, TPE can be impregnated with a sealant to give the SLS 3D printed product waterproof and airtight properties—offering additional new functionality.


TPE in daily life

TPE shares similar properties with rubber, including reusability and elastic deformation. However, TPE materials can be used in 3D printing , making them ideal for prototypes such as footwear and hoses. More importantly, because TPE is an environmentally friendly, non-toxic material without allergens or irritants, it is suitable for contact with the human body, such as in wristbands, handles, and wearable devices. Because SLS 3D printed objects use laser sintering to fuse molecules together, this process creates numerous tiny pores. Therefore, original SLS 3D printed objects are not completely airtight or waterproof.
