[3D Printing News] Ultimaker Launches New Cura Version at TCT Exhibition


Desktop 3D printer manufacturer Ultimaker announced a new software strategy at the TCT exhibition, which will regularly release software upgrades to continuously enhance existing hardware.
The first two major software updates will be Ultimaker Cura 3.0 and Cura Connect. The first, scheduled for release on October 17, provides a powerful, hassle-free solution for preparing digital archives.
The Ultimaker system will also be expanded by providing software upgrades, thereby increasing hardware possibilities and providing connectivity between industry-standard CAD applications such as SolidWorks and Siemens NX.

At the launch event, Ultimaker founder Siert Wijnia stated that the strategy emphasizes the importance of software in the 3D printing ecosystem and how this is how "updated changes make 3D printing easier."
On November 7th of this year, Cura Connect enabled users to manage a range of Ultimaker 3D printers, creating a single solution for prototyping, tooling, and small-scale production. This groundbreaking industry solution allows users to schedule, program, and monitor print jobs, maximizing efficiency.

Siert added, “Furthermore, we will continue to develop new applications for 3D printers, providing more integrated solutions for our one million Cura users, including professional designers, engineers, researchers, and manufacturers. This will help users fully utilize the Ultimaker 3D printer.”
Ultimaker also celebrated a major milestone in today's show, announcing that it has now reached one million users using the cura software, and celebrated all the great milestones in this way with a big cake-cutting ceremony.
