[3D Printing News] ACM SIGGRAPH 2018, the Computer Graphics and Emerging Technologies Exhibition, has successfully concluded!

ACM SIGGRAPH 2018 is an innovative exhibition showcasing emerging technologies such as CG, animation, VR, and games. This year, it attracted 15,000 professionals from various fields to gather in Vancouver, Canada. The event not only brought together the world's top academic researchers to present their latest research findings but also attracted numerous companies to exhibit related technologies; among them, of course, were the latest Ultimaker and 3D printing technologies.

The Ultimaker North American team, together with local partners and professional CAD business partners, presented Ultimaker software, hardware, latest filaments, and application cases at workshops for computer graphics artists, designers, architects, and engineers. In addition to announcing significant research advancements and technological evolutions in 3D printing and additive manufacturing, it also addressed the growing needs of design studios and graphics experts to better understand desktop 3D printing technologies.

In this workshop that strives for hands-on interaction and showcases cutting-edge technology, Matthew Griffin and Lisa Beth present Ultimaker's engine-based design game, which they have been sharing with educators since the fall of 2017. The installation includes a studio, printer , and professional CAD representations, inspiring participants to create their own original designs.

The event, which began in 1974, brings together science and technology experts to share research and the latest technologies, and will continue to drive creativity, research, design and technological development in the years to come.

Since its inception, this project has involved students, teachers, and private groups, aiming to inspire self-training and guide them to create their own original works through prompts rather than using pre-set templates. Teachers can also motivate students through the 3D printing process.
They specially prepared a SIGGRAPH version of the design engine, part of a series of challenges from SIGGRAPH Studio. Participants from diverse backgrounds joined small creative competitions and then used the design tools provided in the SIGGRAPH Studio Workshop to develop their finished products.

Leading CAD trainers—including Rhino experts Mary and Daw Fig from McNeel & Associates, and Jeff Smith from Autodesk's Fusion360—provide demonstrations and instruction, and answer 3D design-related questions live.
Software users are particularly grateful for the opportunity to ask experts challenging CAD questions directly and to consult the Ultimaker team about best practices for creating these designs on Ultimaker hardware.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to use existing Ultimaker educational resource binders and on-site giveaways to obtain additional installation packages, including SolidWorks, Tinkercad, OpenSCAD, Blender, and ZBrush.

In addition to our hands-on experience with Ultimaker in the SIGGRAPH studio area, we also had a joint exhibition at the Wacom booth in the SIGGRAPH technology expo area, where Ultimaker 's latest model, the Ultimaker S5 , became a focal point.

It's great to see Ultimaker 's year-end event come to a successful close! Don't be sad if you missed out this year! 3Dmaker will be exhibiting at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 3 bicycle exhibition from October 31st to November 3rd! There will also be beautiful 3D printed and practical items available for free – I use them myself! Don't worry about forgetting the dates; just like and follow our fan page , and you'll see the announcement as soon as it's released!
