[3D Printing News] Enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival together and make your own mooncakes using 3D printing.

Can you imagine using 3D printing to create mooncake models? You can break free from the limitations of commercially available mooncakes and create your own unique ones. Check out our 3DMART!
A special mooncake bar~~~
The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, and on this day, people gather together to barbecue, eat pomelos, and feast on mooncakes.
Every year during the Mid-Autumn Festival, mooncakes are constantly being innovated, with a variety of flavors to choose from. However, if you can make your own mooncakes, you can use more unique flavors and create shapes that you like.

So this year, 3DMART decided to make their own mooncakes, and of course, the flavors had to be special. Guess what flavors we made?

3D Printed Mooncake Production Process

First, we printed out the 3D file of our designed 3D DART bear shape using the Ultimaker 3D printer . The bear head pops out from the middle of the mooncake.
It's the bear shape from our logo, with text added next to it to make the mooncake look more cohesive.

Place the mooncake mold in an alcohol polisher and steam it for a while to make the surface smoother. After the mold is completely dry, you can make the silicone mold!

The left side shows a polished 3D printed model, while the right side shows a 3D printed model polished with alcohol.

For instructions on making the silicone mold, please refer to our previous post about the Spider-Man head candle . We won't go into detail here; this time we'll use small paper cups to assist with the process. (A small reminder: the silicone used here must be food-grade!)

Next up is the chef's cooking time! You can choose to put your favorite fillings in. We love chocolate, so we used chocolate for everything. The outer layer is dark chocolate, and the filling is mint chocolate ice cream. It's a very novel mooncake flavor, almost like a cake?!

It looks delicious, right? And it actually tastes absolutely delicious too! We enjoyed it so happily; it was all gone as soon as we finished taking pictures. Were we that hungry??

If you happen to have a 3D printer on hand, why not try making your own mooncake (or dessert?!) ?
