ARTOGO has created hundreds of extraordinary paid virtual exhibitions using Matterport's digital twin platform, attracting over 4 million visitors to its digital art exhibitions.
On March 19, 2024, Global Times reported that Matterport announced that ARTOGO , Asia's largest virtual exhibition platform , is using Matterport as its preferred 3D technology to revolutionize the arts sector.
Founded in April 2021, ARTOGO, an online art platform , aims to revolutionize the art world by creating a digital art and culture ecosystem that transcends time and geography. Incubated by Google and Taiwan-based AppWorks Accelerator (a turbo engine for seed-stage startups), ARTOGO has grown into Asia's largest virtual online travel platform.
ARTOGO offers immersive digital experiences powered by Matterport, allowing users to explore international art exhibitions anytime, anywhere. The company collaborates with major art museums, galleries, museums, and historical sites across Asia, providing a comprehensive approach to digital art exhibitions, encompassing content licensing, curation, photography, modeling, production, distribution, and ticketing.

After exploring various digital solutions, ARTOGO selected Matterport's digital twin platform to bring art into life in immersive 3D , hosting over 450 virtual exhibitions and attracting more than 4 million views. In addition to Matterport's digital twin technology supporting ARTOGO's virtual exhibitions , ARTOGO also utilizes Matterport's developer tools to create unique online experiences to meet the needs of the arts and culture sector.
Howard Yang, co-founder and CEO of ARTOGO, stated, "When we first began exploring digital experiences for online exhibitions in 2019, we considered many different ways to digitize exhibitions and create a platform that the public could freely browse." "After evaluating different solutions, it became clear that choosing Matterport's 3D technology was the right decision. By using Matterport's digital twin, we've elevated the digital visitor experience to such a high level that it now attracts paying customers. "
The online paid visit model is a huge boon to the arts and culture sector, creating new revenue streams and possessing enormous potential to attract visitors from around the world. In 2024, ARTOGO plans to launch over 20 paid exhibition experiences globally, with these experiences expected to reach a new milestone of 100,000 ticket sales.
The ARTOGO team believes one of the most impressive features offered by the Matterport 3D camera and digital twin platform is the Matterport dollhouse view. The dollhouse view allows viewers to rotate the 3D model at any angle to fully appreciate the layout and how the 3D space is assembled room by room and floor by floor.

“There were no other solutions that offered this option at the time. We loved the immersive experience Matterport ’s dollhouse mode provided for visitors, and the feature worked right out of the box,” said Howard Yang. “Using Matterport technology, we were able to enhance the experience so that when taking a 3D tour, our exhibit and museum visitors could see the entire space in 3D and accurately see how the exhibits flowed through different rooms.”

“Historically, art has been the domain of a select few. ARTOGO is proving that, with our immersive 3D technology, art can be shared, preserved, and appreciated in a more accessible way across industries,” said Jay Remley, Chief Revenue Officer at Matterport. “ARTOGO is driving innovation in art across Asia and defining the quality digital exhibition experiences people are ultimately willing to pay for. We look forward to supporting their development and making art, global design, and culture more accessible to everyone.”

Another key advantage of using Matterport as the technology behind ARTOGO's virtual tours is the freedom and flexibility offered by the Matterport solution. Benjamin Chen, co-founder and CTO of ARTOGO, continued, "Importantly, the integration of Matterport 's SDK allows us to create unique online experiences that meet the needs of the arts and culture sector."
Walt Chuang, co-founder and marketing director of ARTOGO, explained: "Our goal is to promote cultural exchange between different countries, allowing people around the world to enjoy different exhibitions and guided tours in an immersive way. To this end, we use Matterport technology to create virtual tours that you can experience online no matter where you are."
To create its digital guided tours, the ARTOGO team focused on three core elements: high-quality content, exceptional experience, and a powerful platform . In addition to integrating content from arts and cultural centers around the world, ARTOGO also utilized Matterport's SDK to develop a unique, immersive guided tour experience.
Matterport partners with leading institutions to digitize some of the world’s most unique art and design collections, making them accessible globally. These include the digitization of Design Miami/Basel, Design Miami/and the Miami Design District, as well as the first digital presentation of the Robin Eley x David Korins private collection for a gallery opening.
