Entertainer Alien Huang ("Xiao Gui") is enjoying immense success as a variety show host and singer, and his "AES Alien Huang & TAT Plan B" concert, which just concluded on October 13th, was a huge hit. The special gift he gave away that day in collaboration with Tissot's "Seastar1000"—a " 3D-printed portrait"—was created using 3D scanning by Sandima, and it's finally ready for release!

In addition to the monster model and car bumper that we shared before, now we'll introduce the process of creating the portrait of variety show star "Ghost Brother" Huang Hongsheng! For the portrait, we first performed a rough full-face scan using the latest EinScan Pro 2X Plus 3D scanner . This not only allows the machine to quickly capture points but also helps us identify which areas are under-lit so we can enhance them later.
The most difficult part to capture in a typical 3D portrait scan is the hair, especially since most Taiwanese people have black hair. Black hair can affect the reflectivity during 3D scanning , which is not conducive to the scanner's imaging. Although the image shows that the EinScan Pro 2X Plus 3D scanner still captures the hair very effectively, we still asked Ghost Brother to touch up the hair first in order to achieve the best quality.
The whitened hair appears clearer during 3D scanning . Furthermore, since the EinScan Pro 2X Plus uses an LED light source, there's no need to close the eyes when scanning the portrait, eliminating the need for post-processing of facial features—making it a convenient option for human body and head scanning. The finished result amazed Gui Ge, who couldn't resist taking photos. Like other young men, he was also very interested in the company's 3D printing samples. He's both handsome and approachable!
Once the STL file is scanned, it can be directly 3D printed without the need for mold making, which is faster and can meet the new requirements of customized products and tight delivery deadlines. Here, we've directly put it into Ultimaker Cura to show you the file effect.
