[3D Printer] Desktop FDM Large-Format 3D Printer - Ultimaker S5 Unboxing Review
The Ultimaker's latest 3D printer, which we've been eagerly anticipating, has finally arrived at Santima's office. Today, we'll be giving you a sneak peek at the unboxing and printing test!
The first thing you see in front of you is our main character today - the Ultimaker S5 ! The super large box is much larger than the previous Ultimaker series boxes. The manufacturer thoughtfully designed it to open directly from the top, and the bottom is secured with plastic buckles.
Then, like opening a gift, you can elegantly and easily lift it from the top to see that the Ultimaker S5 3D printer is securely protected by foam on both the top and bottom.
After removing the black foam on top , you can see that the space inside the machine is neatly arranged with the included accessory pack and cables (inside the cardboard boxes on both sides). 
Then easily remove the accessory pack and two rolls of cable from inside the machine. 
The Ultimaker S5 comes with an accessory kit and two 750g rolls of PVA cable and a new Tough PLA cable. (Note: Tough PLA cable has a similar feel to ABS cable.)
It is resilient and possesses the simplicity of PLA. 
Upon opening the accessory kit, you'll first find a simple operating instruction manual (in English). 
A very large piece of glass was placed below. 
After removing the glass slide and lifting the paper, you will see all the tools, parts, and samples that will be used neatly placed in the foam. The nozzle is equipped with AA 0.4mm.
Two and one BB 0.4mm . Other tools are largely the same as those included in previous series.
Once assembled, it looked much larger next to our Ultimaker3 , giving the impression of a mother and child standing side by side. 
The biggest difference in appearance of the Ultimaker S5, besides its larger size, is the addition of a glass door. The magnetic buckle on the glass door fits perfectly onto the printer, eliminating the need for an additional door panel. Isn't that incredibly convenient? 
The nozzle of the Ultimaker S5 is also larger (about 0.5cm), the X and Y axes are significantly thicker and more robust, and the front part of the nozzle is more protected, making it less prone to damage. 
Comparing the glass sizes of the Ultimaker 3 and Ultimaker S5, the printing area is significantly larger, allowing for the printing of many more interesting and larger objects.

This optimization also includes a new touchscreen panel. The language can be set to Chinese (Simplified) first, and you can use your fingers to select and set more easily on the screen. The graphic instructions also make it easier for beginners to operate and understand.
A new cable flow sensor has been installed at the back, which will automatically pause printing when the cable is insufficient and will only resume printing once the cable is replenished. 
After inserting the cable, don't forget to start the XY calibration first. After printing is complete, take out the calibration paper from the tool kit, place it under the glass plate to find the value of the straightest line, and enter it on the screen. 
Once the calibration is complete, we can start printing. This time, we're printing brake calipers, using the Tough PLA and PVA cables included in the box, with a layer thickness set to 0.15mm. 
When you select a file on the screen, you can see the image, name, and selected filament information of the 3D print file, making printing more reassuring. Previously, 3D printers only displayed the file name, not the image, which could be a little unsettling. People worried about accidentally saving the wrong file name no longer need to worry! 
After you press Start Print, a circular progress bar will appear to let you know the progress of the preparation. 
Printing begins!!!
The printed brake calipers, being quite small, looked rather lonely and empty on the Ultimaker S5. 
Here's another close-up. After soaking it in water for about a day, you can see the incredibly detailed brake caliper model!!! 
As can be seen from the picture, the print quality is excellent, and the details are presented quite completely.
