[3D Printing Knowledge] 3 Tips to Make Your 3D Printing More Perfect!

With the rise of 3D printing technology, besides understanding the technical aspects, have you ever thought about what small details in the production process can make the finished product more perfect? Today, we'll teach you three tips to effectively improve the quality of 3D printing !
1. Lay a solid foundation and say goodbye to warping
3D printing is like building a house; a solid foundation is crucial! The filaments used in printing are heated and softened before being extruded from the nozzle. The sudden cooling causes thermal expansion and contraction, and objects with many sharp corners or a small contact area with the platform can warp during 3D printing . Applying a special adhesive to the 3D printer platform before printing effectively reduces warping. We typically use " Magigoo " adhesive; applying just 1-2 layers is enough to stabilize the printed position, and the finished product can be easily removed from the platform. The adhesive is easy to clean, odorless, and non-toxic, making it very safe to use!
2. Water-soluble support, easy separation
When 3D printing complex models, the filaments will fall due to gravity, requiring the addition of support structures in the suspended areas. After completion, the supports can be separated from the finished product. If PLA filaments are used to print the model and the support simultaneously, the two are tightly attached, and removing the support will take a lot of time and may damage the model in the process.

Using water-soluble PVA filaments to print the support structure allows for direct dissolution with water, eliminating the need for manual removal and perfectly reproducing the model while maintaining surface smoothness and integrity. For example, using Ultimaker 's dual-nozzle 3D printer, both the object body and the support can be printed simultaneously. As shown in the image below, the contact surface of the dissolved PVA support remains remarkably smooth and flat. (Further reading: Support effect comparison – which method suits you best? )
3. Alcohol polishing, resulting in a glossy surface.
Using the Polymaker polisher to polish the model, the gaseous alcohol dissolves the surface of the 3D printed object, blending the stacked lines and creating a smooth effect, which can greatly improve the texture of the model in a short time!

In the 3D printing process, if you lay a solid foundation from the beginning and pay attention to various small details, and then do subsequent processing according to requirements, you can achieve high-quality finished products at a low cost!
