【Unboxing & Hands-on】Picaso 3D Printer: Two colors, two materials, and nozzle switching in just 5 seconds!

The Picaso Designer X PRO 3D printer is equipped with dual nozzles. It supports 1.75mm diameter filaments and utilizes patented JetSwitch technology. You can switch nozzles in just 5 seconds, allowing for speedy 3D printing using two colors or two types of materials. Its enclosed print chamber, featuring a top-opening door, supports operating temperatures up to 380°C. We will walk you through everything from unboxing to actual printing:

When unboxing the unit, the box contains a toolkit (screws, needle-nose pliers, assembly parts, etc.), two rolls of 3D printing filament, a power cable, and more. What particularly caught my eye were the tools included with the Picaso. They were so colorful and vibrant that the moment I opened the toolkit, I almost thought it was a toy model set!

The maximum build volume of the Picaso Designer X PRO is 200 x 200 x 210mm. Inside the unit, one roll of 3D printing filament can be set on each side. For this test, we used the genuine filament included with the Picaso—silver PLA and ESUN PVA water-soluble filament—to print with two different materials.

During 3D printing, the Picaso Designer X PRO operating screen displays real-time information such as print time, the temperature of each of the two nozzles, and the print platform temperature, as well as the current completion percentage (%). Users can check the progress of their work at a glance.

Once the two-color 3D print is complete, you can obtain the final finished product by submerging the "Durotan" monster in water to dissolve the PVA water-soluble support material attached to it.

It is recommended to place the 3D printed model in running water. Using a motor or similar device to circulate the water can speed up the dissolution of the PVA water-soluble support. (See also: [3D Printing Application] A Must-See for World of Warcraft Fans! The Roaring Durotan)

(Simply submerge the 3D printed model in water; there's no need to manually remove the supports. The water-soluble filament will gradually dissolve.)

(The monster during the dissolution process. The PVA on the torso has already completely dissolved, while the PLA body remains flat and smooth, with absolutely no impact on its appearance. I can't wait to see the final result once everything is dissolved.)

The monster is an assembled 3D printed model. In this test, we focused on the details of the upper body while using the Picaso. The finished product shows a variety of high-quality details, such as clear muscle definition, the dangling parts of the necklace, and braided hair. The Picaso series of 3D printers offers a lineup of four models, all of which are already available for purchase. The Designer X PRO 3D printer features a highly durable frame, making it suitable for various industrial applications, such as prototype production and small-scale manufacturing.
