3D printer manufacturer Bambu Lab has released a creative tool called the "Christmas Ornament Maker," allowing users to add a personal touch to their holiday decorations.

With the arrival of the holiday season, MakerWorld is buzzing with activities centered around the Christmas Ornament Maker. To set the mood, users can utilize this holiday-exclusive MakerLab tool to create their very own original Christmas ornaments. This free MakerLab tool allows you to customize and produce spinning Christmas tree ornaments, and includes a variety of elements to help bring your creative ideas to life.
Christmas Ornament Maker
This tool was released on November 28, 2024, as part of the MakerLab platform. It aims to empower 3D printing enthusiasts to create unique, colorful Christmas ornaments that reflect their own style and creativity. As the name suggests, it is very simple to use. Users can choose between hollow and solid designs, and select from a variety of colors, including standard and holiday-themed palettes. Furthermore, it offers a wide range of customization features, such as adding text using provided fonts, applying stickers, utilizing a rich library of Christmas-themed emoji graphics, and uploading original SVG files to achieve a highly personalized design.

Additionally, you can add a dynamic spinning effect to the ornament by adjusting the number of rings. It also supports multi-color designs, allowing for a beautiful and vibrant finish on every piece.
In my actual use, I found the interface easy to navigate, making the production process smooth. It feels satisfying to be able to unleash your creativity while freely determining the design. If you choose a hollow design, be particularly careful that floating images or text parts are connected to the rest of the structure. If they are not connected, the print may fail. If parts end up floating, it is recommended to place a small bridge or add a background layer to act as a support.

Each ornament can feature up to four rotating rings, allowing for the creation of hanging decorations with a kinetic function. Displaying them on your Christmas tree and watching them spin is sure to impress your guests—or at the very least, catch the interest of your cat.
This tool is provided free of charge to MakerWorld users, but it is only available during the Christmas season. In addition to the launch of this tool, various Bambu Lab 3D printers have also received price adjustments, making this the perfect time to consider purchasing one for yourself or as a gift. It is sure to make your holiday season even more enjoyable.

The Holiday Spirit Spreading Through the 3D Printing Industry
For many years, the holiday season has inspired the creativity of the 3D printing community. Companies continue to fuel this enthusiasm by hosting contests and providing tools that encourage personalization and innovation.
For example, the 3D design software company Vectary collaborated with MyMiniFactory to host a Christmas ornament 3D design contest. Participants used Vectary's browser-based 3D design platform to submit their work and compete for prizes worth over 3,500 USD, including a MakeX M-Jewelry 3D printer. There was also a category for sharing YouTube tutorials that showcased the production process. To foster creativity, Vectary provided templates and video guides, making the holiday event accessible and engaging for everyone.
Furthermore, in 2014, the online 3D printing service i.materialise held an annual Christmas challenge, calling on participants to design 3D-printed Christmas ornaments. The designs required the use of polyamide material and had to fit within a 10 x 10 x 10 cm space. Winners received their own printed designs, a 50 Euro i.materialise print voucher, an Autodesk Premium membership, and an Instructables Pro membership. These various contests continue to stimulate creator creativity through diverse themes, ranging from traditional Christmas motifs to original interpretations, bringing fresh energy to the 3D printing industry.
