[3D Printing] International Makers Launch 3D Printed Model of Mechanical Counter

A YouTuber on the channel "It's on my MIND" has developed a mechanical counter made entirely of 3D-printed parts. The device can display numbers from 0 to 999 and requires no additional metal parts.

This three-digit counter is made entirely of PLA plastic. It does not use metal springs, screws, or rubber bands.
This counter design is an interesting test for your 3D printer , as all the mechanical functions must be implemented using precisely printed plastic parts.

At the heart of this counter is a lever mechanism. Each pull of the control lever rotates a single wheel 36 degrees, equivalent to one-tenth of a full revolution. An integrated ratchet system ensures precise movement. After each operation, a built-in plastic spring in the handle returns the control lever to its starting position.
The mechanism for passing numbers between the wheels is particularly ingenious. Once a single wheel reaches 9, two teeth engage with the middle wheel, thus rotating the ten wheel one position further. The conversion from tens to hundreds digits is done in the same way.
A clever zeroing mechanism allows the counter to be reset. By pressing and turning the axle, all the wheels can be reset to zero simultaneously.

This YouTuber provides a 3D print archive of this work for interested makers on the Thingiverse platform.
In addition, the developer provided detailed instructions on installation and coloring. Surprisingly, he recommended using nail polish for coloring, which proved to be a cheap and effective solution.
And this time, Sandima actually printed out this work!

We used both Bambu Lab 's X1C and X1E to complete this piece, and after combining them, we confirmed that its operating structure is really interesting!
This work impressively demonstrates the possibilities of 3D printing complex mechanical systems.

It demonstrates how to create functional devices using creative solutions and precise structures without the need for additional materials.
