[Laser Engraving] Unboxing and Review of the Newly Evolved Beambox II Laser Engraver & Cutter

The newly evolved "Beambox II Laser Engraver & Cutter" has received a significant power boost compared to the previous model.
Not only has the workspace been expanded, but the laser output has also been upgraded to 55W. Engraving speeds are faster than ever, and it comes packed with numerous convenient features. Let's take a closer look.

Beambox II Unboxing Review
The new Beambox II offers major improvements in overall specifications. The workspace has been expanded by 1.5 times, going from 40×37.5 cm to 60×37.5 cm. The working depth has also increased from 80 mm to 125 mm, resulting in a larger unit size.
The packaging is very secure, showing that the manufacturer has taken great care with protection.

Upon opening, you can see the power cable socket and main power switch on the back of the unit.
There is also a silver power switch on the top right for day-to-day operation.

There is a USB port on the lower side of the unit, allowing you to load files directly for engraving or cutting. The standard included Wi-Fi adapter is also very convenient, allowing for a direct wireless connection to computers, tablets, and smartphones.

An emergency stop button is located on the side of the unit, which is a vital safety feature.
Whether in a home, workshop, or factory setting, safety is paramount.
If you detect an abnormality during operation, pressing this button will immediately halt the process, preventing the situation from worsening.

The back of the unit is equipped with three cooling fans and one exhaust fan.
Depending on the material, laser engraving and cutting can produce various odors or even harmful gases.
By using an extension duct to vent the internal air outdoors, you can achieve a safer and more comfortable working environment.

Opening the top cover at the back of the unit reveals the Beambox II's water cooling system.
If a water cooling system error appears, you can refill it with pure water from here to get it running again.

The top of the Beambox II features a 5-inch touch-capable display, from which most settings can be managed.
When you start a job, you can load files directly from here, and it also allows for updates and testing operations.

By tapping the screen and entering the unit's interface functions, you can test whether each piece of hardware is functioning correctly.
The unit also allows for setting various functions and passwords to prevent accidental operation.
Should a malfunction occur, you can also test each component from the hardware settings. Depending on the cause of the displayed error, you can perform various tests to help isolate and resolve the issue.

Furthermore, it is equipped with network configuration features. While many laser engravers and cutters on the market support wireless connections, they often require a wired connection for initial setup before wireless networking can be used, and connections can sometimes be unstable.
In contrast, FLUX products feature extremely stable wireless network connections; we experienced no connection drops during actual use.

Beambox II allows you to choose between auto-focus or manual focus distance adjustment, which can be set directly on the device.
When using auto-focus, the focus probe moves down and retracts after the focus is complete.
Auto-focus is incredibly convenient and finishes with a single touch. Beambox II's high-precision auto-focus means there is almost no need to use manual focus. It is a laser processing machine that both beginners and experienced users can easily master.

Beambox II features a very wide work window, allowing you to see the entire internal processing area at a glance during operation.
This allows you to check progress, quality, and check for any irregularities with greater precision.

To prevent burn marks on the bottom of materials during cutting, the Beambox II features a built-in, very thick honeycomb table.
The Beambox II's 600×375mm large working area allows you to set larger materials, further expanding your creative possibilities.

Beambox II's laser power has been significantly increased from the original Beambox, upgraded from a 40W CO2 laser to a 55W CO2 laser. Engraving speeds have also improved significantly, reaching up to 900 mm/s.
With the newly installed 55W laser power, you can cut 18mm-thick cypress wood in a single pass. Furthermore, by using the lower focal length feature, it is even possible to cut 20mm-thick cypress wood.
Acrylic can also be cut up to 20mm thick, achieving high-quality, clean cut edges.

Beam Studio
You can connect to the Beambox II via Beam Studio and operate it from a PC, tablet, or smartphone.
The Beambox II's camera preview feature utilizes the built-in FLUX Lasers camera, allowing you to preview the object in real-time to confirm placement and processing status. Preview speed is also five times faster than the previous model.
By using this feature, you can accurately place the image you want to engrave or cut at the desired position. You don't need to perform complex positioning calculations like with conventional laser engravers and cutters.

Beam Studio comes pre-configured with engraving settings for a variety of common materials, which is very convenient.
Users can directly select processing parameters and fine-tune them based on actual usage conditions.

The parameter settings field also includes a lower focal length feature.
Using this feature, the Beambox II can cut deeper than usual. By lowering the focal length, the laser focus is brought closer to the material.

The Beambox II's maximum engraving resolution has evolved to 1000 DPI, which can be selected freely from the Beam Studio file settings.

Additionally, one of the key features of Beam Studio is the red light preview.
Even when camera preview alone doesn't provide enough precision, using the red light preview allows you to verify that the cutting range is correct.
Beambox II is the first FLUX model to feature both red light and camera previews.

When executed, the red light irradiation range is displayed on the workspace, allowing you to maximize the positional accuracy of your work.

Also, in Beam Studio, you can view the estimated time until processing is complete.
Therefore, if you don't want to breathe in nearby exhaust during operation, you can check the estimated finish time and return after it's done.
It is also possible to switch to the camera screen from a laptop or tablet, allowing you to monitor the status in real-time from a different location.

Beam Studio also includes a very useful "auto-align" feature. It automatically detects objects of the same size and intelligently arranges patterns.
Using this feature, when repeating engravings or cuts on the same object, you don't need to set the alignment one by one, which improves work efficiency.

Expansion Accessories
The Beambox II offers high performance on its own, but it also supports three types of expansion accessories: a wide-area engraving kit, a roller rotary axis, and a chuck rotary axis.
Using the wide-area engraving kit allows you to open the front and back of the unit, and when combined with a dedicated extended laser head, you can load and process longer materials.

The chuck rotary axis kit, when combined with an expansion base box kit, can also support engraving on thicker materials.
Engraving on cylindrical materials is no problem. Simply secure the material to the rotary axis kit, and you can easily process circular objects.
Additionally, the chuck kit comes with multiple chuck attachments that can be swapped depending on the application.

Testing it in practice, the Beambox II unit and the Beam Studio software were both very intuitive and easy to operate.
Whether engraving wood or metal, the finish was extremely sharp and beautiful, and the entire workflow proceeded smoothly and quickly.

The arrival of the Beambox II laser engraver & cutter brings a new evolution for users who enjoy laser processing.
Compared to the previous model, it has been significantly upgraded in many aspects.
With its multi-faceted evolution, the Beambox II is a laser engraver & cutter that provides a more efficient and convenient operating environment, suitable for a wide range of applications.
