[3D Printing News] Bambu Lab Launches X1E Engineering-Grade 3D Printer - Features Explained & Specifications Comparison!

Shenzhen-based 3D printer manufacturer Bambu Lab has launched the X1E, the latest addition to its X1 FDM 3D printer series . Unlike previous X1 series products, Bambu Lab's latest 3D printer is designed for professional and engineering applications.

At its core, the X1E is an upgraded version of the X1 Carbon system with enhanced industrial-grade features. These features include a new LAN-only mode for offline operation, a heavy-duty air filtration system, active heating, and building room temperature control. Maximum nozzle temperatures have also been increased, expanding compatibility with higher-performance materials.

Key features of Bambu Lab X1E

Equipped with an air filtration system

The X1E features a "heavy-duty" air filtration system that effectively filters volatile organic compounds and particulates generated during 3D printing. This system combines a G3 pre-filter, an H12 HEPA filter, and a premium coconut shell activated carbon filter. Optimized for professional and engineering applications, this system is said to reduce odor and particulate generation in poorly ventilated environments.

Active 3D printing chamber heating and temperature control
The X1E improves 3D print quality. In fact, the X1E provides active 3D printing chamber heating and temperature regulation, reducing warpage and improving interlayer adhesion. The X1E can actively control the temperature of the 3D printing chamber, up to 60°C or 140°F. This is said to improve 3D print quality, especially when using materials prone to warping, such as ABS and PC .

High-temperature materials can be extruded up to 320°C.
Bambu Labs' new 3D printer also offers broad high-temperature material compatibility, featuring an upgraded 320-degree high-temperature nozzle. This nozzle allows the X1E to use higher-performance materials such as PPA-CF/GF, PPS, and PPS-CF for 3D printing. This makes the X1E more suitable for engineering applications with materials that offer better dimensional stability, heat resistance, and mechanical properties.

*PPA (commonly known as high-temperature nylon) can be used for extended periods below 170 degrees Celsius, and its short-term temperature resistance can even reach 280-290 degrees Celsius. It possesses excellent mechanical strength in bending, tensile strength, and impact resistance, and can resist long-term tensile creep. It can replace metal materials to a certain extent.

*PPS has excellent electrical insulation and chemical corrosion resistance, as well as good radiation resistance and flame retardant properties, making it suitable for applications in aerospace and other fields.

Large 256 x 256 x 256mm printing space & high-speed printing at 500mm per second.
The X1E's CoreXY motion structure also supports high-speed 3D printing. This structure includes carbon fiber rods, enabling the X1E to achieve toolhead accelerations of 20,000 mm/s² and maintain a motion speed of 500 mm/s for extended periods. High-speed 3D printing typically results in a sacrifice in 3D print quality. However, Bambu Lab states that this is not the case for the X1E. This is because the X1E actively compensates for XY axis vibration and extrusion issues, ensuring reliable 3D print quality even at high speeds. These compensation measurements are fully automatic and require no manual adjustments.

The X1E limits consumable waste and 3D printer downtime through its AI-powered fault detection system. According to Bambu Lab, the 3D printer's AI algorithm, aided by LiDAR and visual imaging, can detect first-layer defects and accidental knots, automatically pausing 3D printing to prevent catastrophic failures.

The X1E also supports simultaneous 3D printing on multiple materials. In fact, Bambu Labs' new 3D printer can connect to four Bambu AMS systems simultaneously, using up to 16 filament rolls for 3D printing. This is ideal for 3D printing complex support materials , ensuring a good surface finish, and achieving multi-color 3D printing. The AMS system also supports automatic filament changing, further automating 3D printing.

In summary:

• Equipped with an air filtration system

• Actively heated printing chambers can reach 60°C
• Can extrude high-temperature materials up to 320°C
• Large 256 x 256 x 256mm printing space • High-speed printing up to 500mm per second • AI-powered defect detection system to prevent tangling defects

The Bambu Lab X1E is poised to leapfrog into the next generation of industrial-grade 3D printers, elevating the FDM printing experience. Tailored for professionals and engineers, it promises a seamless experience, from secure and stable connectivity options to top-of-the-line features such as advanced air filtration, temperature control, and a rapid motion system. By providing the ability to print on high-temperature materials and ensuring safe operation without the need for external cloud services, the X1E becomes a reliable tool trusted by professionals.
