The H2C is the latest model in Bambu Lab's H-series. The previously released H2D generated significant buzz with its groundbreaking features.
The H2D was a large, fully enclosed printer with a tool changer, supporting a wide variety of materials. The subsequent H2S achieved large-scale printing at a lower cost by adopting a single-head design.

Bambu Lab H2C

The latest H2C further expands this ecosystem by introducing a multi-nozzle exchange head.
While the basic configuration is similar to other H-series models, the biggest difference lies in the newly added module on the right side of the main unit.
Opening this module reveals six additional nozzles, allowing for frequent automatic nozzle changes within the toolhead to match different materials, while minimizing filament flushing (purging).

Setup takes approximately 20 minutes. Simply place each print head into its magnetic holder and attach the AMS and second filament spool, making it incredibly easy. Bambu Lab consistently provides detailed manuals, ensuring users don't get lost.

H2C Unboxing Report

The H2C's exterior is almost identical to the H2D and H2S, but the true evolution lies in the "toolhead."
On the left side, there's a regular fixed nozzle fed from an external input (typically, the main filament is fixed to the spool holder on the left).

On the right side, there's a movable nozzle fed from the AMS. This nozzle can access five other nozzles via the "Vortek system" on the right side of the main unit. This new system is its most significant feature and a revolutionary approach that sets it apart from multi-toolhead designs of other brands.

Toolhead detail

The essence of the H2C is not "having a print head for each filament" but "having a dedicated nozzle for each filament."
The right-side nozzle handles filament loading and unloading, and fills through the nozzle. While there's still a retraction and purge process after filling, the purge amount is dramatically reduced because each material has its own dedicated nozzle.

This system allows for assigning specific nozzles to frequently used filaments and allocating less frequently used ones to other nozzles. For example, when printing 12 colors, by utilizing the AMS unit and optimizing the main color to the left and sub-colors to each nozzle of the Vortek system, the overall print time can be significantly reduced.

The standard H2C package includes four Vortek 0.4mm hotends with sensors, and one each of 0.2mm and 0.6mm. It's also possible to purchase it as a set with AMS2 Pro or a laser module (40W/20W), or to buy additional hotends separately.

Hotend system

The hotend itself is similar to the H2D's, but the major difference is its compatibility with the "Vortek automatic nozzle exchange system." The latest locking mechanism allows for quick and automatic nozzle changes without manual operation.

The main unit features a 5-inch color touchscreen. Familiar to users of Bambu Lab printers, it also boasts a sophisticated user interface (UI) that is intuitive for first-time users.

Build quality

The H2C's design and build quality are exceptional, clearly targeting the professional market. Its extensive use of glass and metal gives it a premium feel, and its fully enclosed chassis provides a stable printing environment with temperature control and automatic ventilation. This allows for optimal printing of various materials, including PLA, without needing to open the top cover.

H2C Setup

Setup is completed in approximately 20 minutes. After removing the internal packaging, the main tasks involve connecting the AMS and installing the Vortek nozzles on the right side of the toolhead. Connecting the AMS is similar to other Bambu Lab machines: simply plug the tube and data cable into the back, and it will be recognized as AMS Pro.

Installing the magnetic print heads (nozzles) is incredibly simple. Each nozzle is individually packaged, and they click firmly into place with a light push. Internal pins ensure precise alignment, preventing incorrect insertion into the Vortek system.

Installation

After calibration, launch Bambu Studio to synchronize materials and nozzles. Filament types are automatically identified by RFID tags on the spools, eliminating the need for manual entry (manual settings are available for third-party materials).

Print files can also be sent remotely and quickly. The built-in camera allows for real-time monitoring of print progress with clear visuals, providing peace of mind during long prints.

Software sync

The biggest advantage of the H2C is its "filament savings." Compared to other H-series models, filament waste (discarded material) can be reduced to less than half of the H2D and almost one-third of the H2S. In a business context, this reduction in consumable costs is a significant benefit.

Highly Efficient and Economical Multi-Color & Multi-Material Usage

The Vortek hotend system is truly innovative. Compared to the H2D and H2S, nozzle changes are completed with almost no cleaning (purging) required. It is compatible with almost all special materials, from standard PLA to nylon and carbon fiber composite materials.

Materials

The build chamber can be heated up to 65℃, and combined with a 350℃-compatible hotend, it offers extreme flexibility. Furthermore, by adding AMS units, it can support up to 24 colors of filament.

To the question "Can it reduce filament waste?", the H2C unequivocally answers "YES." While not completely zero, it achieves a level of reduction that makes a significant difference in operation.

Waste reduction

The Bambu Lab H2C pushes the boundaries of 3D printing with its "multi-nozzle" approach, a departure from conventional manufacturers. We confidently recommend this machine to all creative studios, engineers, and prototype developers.
